20220386228 · 2022-12-01 · ·

There is provided systems and methods for the grouping of UEs, such that UEs can share a UE group context or share a PDU session context or both. In this manner, network resource usage, with respect to UE context and PDU session context management, can be mitigated.

SWITCHING MECHANISM BETWEEN HST SFN SCHEME AND NR SINGLE TRP AND MULTI-TRP SCHEMES

Switching schemes at a mobile device may include, in response to being within range of a transmission and reception point (TRP) of a plurality of TRPs associated with a high speed train (HST), decoding a communication received from a network. The communication may include a first radio resource control (RRC) information element (IE) having an HST configuration associated with an HST scheme. The HST configuration may be applied to thereby operate using the HST scheme. In response to being out of range of the plurality of TRPs associated with the HST, a communication received from the network may be decoded. The communication may include a second RRC IE having a non-HST configuration associated with a non-HST scheme. The non-HST configuration may be applied to thereby operate using the non-HST scheme.

Handover-related technology, apparatuses, and methods

An apparatus of a wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE), can include processing circuitry configured to perform one or more of the handover-related techniques disclosed herein. For example, when associated with moving with a plurality of mobile devices from coverage of a first cell to a second cell, the processing circuitry can detect the second cell. One or more parameters of the second cell can be measured. The one or more parameters can be communicated to one or more other mobile devices of the plurality of mobile devices.

Signaling a new information element for the mobility state estimate of moving relay user equipments

An apparatus is provided which includes a first connection unit configured to provide connection to a user equipment, and a processor configured to detect whether a handover of the user equipment is required, and, if a handover is required, to establish mobility information regarding the mobility state of the apparatus as mobility information of the user equipment, and to send the mobility information to at least one network element involved in the handover of the user equipment.

Apparatus and methods for group wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) handover

Apparatus and methods of handing over a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) that belongs to a group of WTRUs from an originating base station to a target base station are described. A method includes the WTRU obtaining information regarding a group to which the WTRU has been assigned and the WTRU receiving at least one of handover reconfiguration information that is common to the group and handover reconfiguration information that is specific to the WTRU. On a condition that the WTRU receives the handover reconfiguration information that is specific to the WTRU, the WTRU initiates a synchronization procedure with the target base station based at least on the received handover reconfiguration information.

Smart self cell configuration for aerial base station over 4G/5G network

An architecture for facilitating smart physical cell identity (PCI) configuration for aerial network equipment that can used in terrestrial 4G and/or 5G LTE wireless networking paradigms. A method can comprise: receiving, from core network equipment, an instruction to travel from a first geographic location to a second geographic location, wherein the second geographic location has been determined, by the core network equipment, as representing a hotspot location; traveling from the first geographic location to the hotspot location; based on crossing a boundary associated with the hotspot location, initiating execution of a user equipment relay process that transitions the aerial user equipment from being user equipment to being aerial network equipment; and transmitting to the core network equipment that the user equipment relay process has been successfully initiated.

Trigger-client based client steering in mesh networks

Methods, systems, and devices for steering in mesh networks by a serving device are described. The method may include determining that a client device within a range of the serving device is eligible for steering, where the client device is outside a set of one or more trigger client devices, requesting, based on the determination, a radio resource management report from at least one trigger client device of the set of one or more trigger client devices, receiving the radio resource management report from the at least one trigger client device of the set of one or more trigger client devices, and performing a steering operation of the client device from the serving device to a target device based on the radio resource management report from the at least one trigger client device.

WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SERVICE DELIVERY RESPONSIVE TO USER EQUIPMENT (UE) HANDOVERS
20220361051 · 2022-11-10 ·

In a wireless communication system, a Session Management Function (SMF) transfers signaling to a User Plane Function (UPF) to deliver a wireless data service to a wireless User Equipment (UE). The UPF exchanges user data with the wireless UE over a source Radio Unit (RU) to deliver the wireless data service. A Radio Resource Control (RRC) detects the RU handover of the wireless UE from the source RU to a target RU and transfers an RU handover notice for the wireless UE the SMF. The SMF transfers new signaling to the UPF to modify the wireless data service for the wireless UE. The UPF exchanges additional user data with the wireless UE over the target RU to deliver the modified wireless data service to the wireless UE.

Mobility in heterogeneous network environments

There is provided a method, including requesting, by a network element of a macro cell network infrastructure, a local cell access point operating within the macro cell to either activate or deactivate a local cell control plane with respect to active user equipment of the local cell, wherein the local cell access point continues to provide a user plane to the active user equipment; and receiving a response to the request.

GROUP HANDOVER WITH MOVING CELLS
20170311216 · 2017-10-26 ·

A wireless communication system using cells to provide wireless access to services, comprising a first base station installed on board a public transportation vehicle to provide a moving cell, and a second base station installed at a stop at which users enter or leave the vehicle, to provide a fixed cell. A central controller guides handovers of users entering or leaving the vehicle. The first and second base stations to provide data concerning users to the central controller, and the central controller, over many journeys of the vehicle, gathers profile data of users based on the data provided by the base stations. As the vehicle approaches a stop, the central controller makes predictions about users likely to enter and leave the vehicle, and, provides guidance to the first and second base stations for performing handovers.
