A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for managing a failure in a registration for accessing a network slice, and the UE including processing circuitry configured to perform the method, are provided. The method includes sending a registration request message to a first wireless network while the UE is in a tracking area of a registration area, the registration request message including a Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI) corresponding to the network slice, receiving a registration reject message from the first wireless network indicating that the network slice is unavailable, storing a Tracking Area Identifier (TAI) of the tracking area to a rejected list based on the TAI of the tracking area being included the registration reject message, and establishing a connection with a second wireless network in response to the receiving.

Determination for conditional handover failure

There is provided a method comprising: upon detecting that a first condition is met, causing a transmission of a measurement report to a wireless network; acquiring a conditional handover command from the wireless network; upon detecting that a second condition, associated with the conditional handover command, is met, starting a handover execution timer for triggering execution of a handover from a source cell to a target cell; detecting that a radio link failure condition is met before the execution of the handover is triggered; and on the basis of the detecting, signaling, to the wireless network, information indicative of a cause of a conditional handover failure to be either misconfigured first condition or misconfigured second condition.

Context-specific customization of handover parameters using characterization of a device's radio environment

A method for managing mobility in a wireless communication system includes determining an initial mobility management configuration for a user equipment (UE) in a serving cell based on cell configuration information. The method also includes identifying a current context of the UE based on reports received from the UE. The method further includes determining an updated mobility management configuration for the UE based on the current context of the UE. Additionally, the method includes transmitting a configuration message to update the UE with the updated mobility management configuration. The method also includes determining whether to trigger a handover of the UE based on comparison of the serving cell and neighbor cell measurements with thresholds. The method further includes triggering the handover based on the updated mobility management configuration.

REPORTING FOR CONDITIONAL PRIMARY SECONDARY CELL ADDITION OR CHANGE

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a master node associated with a primary cell, a configuration for a conditional procedure for adding or changing a primary secondary cell (PSCell) associated with a secondary node. The UE may also receive, from the master node, a configuration for a handover procedure for the primary cell. The UE may transmit a report that includes information related to the conditional PSCell procedure, information related to the primary secondary cell, or both, based on a triggering order between the conditional PSCell procedure and the handover procedure.

Communication Apparatus and Method for Handling a Handover in a Wireless Network

A communication apparatus comprises a radio transceiver and a modem processor. The radio transceiver is configured to transmit or receive wireless signals in a wireless network. The modem processor is coupled to the radio transceiver and configured to perform operations comprising: connecting to a first network device via a first communication link in a first frequency band; predicting a handover according to at least one of at least one measurement result or location information; connecting to a second network device via a second communication link in a second frequency band, after predicting the handover; performing the handover from the first network device to a third network device, to stop connecting to the first network device and to connect to the third network device via the first communication link in the first frequency band; and stopping connecting to the second network device, after performing the handover.

System and methods for phased reconfiguration in wireless systems

A system and methods for performing phased reconfiguration in a wireless communications system are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may perform a phased reconfiguration from a source cell to a target cell. The WTRU may be connected to the source cell and may execute a first set of functions towards the source cell. The WTRU may monitor for a first set of preconfigured trigger conditions and a second set of preconfigured trigger conditions. The WTRU may commence a second set of functions towards the target cell based on detection of at least one of the first set of preconfigured trigger conditions while continuing to execute the first set of functions towards the source cell. The WTRU may cease to perform at least a subset of the first set of functions towards the source cell based on detection of at least one of the second set of preconfigured trigger conditions.

Application Awareness Interworking

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for application awareness interworking between cellular systems. A wireless device may be configured to initiate an application during an ongoing procedure serviced by a first operating according to a first radio access technology (RAT), receive, from a first cellular system, an indication to switch to a second cellular system operating according to a second RAT, and delay the switch to the second cellular system until completion of the ongoing procedure. A network function may be configured to detect initiation of an application during an ongoing procedure serviced by a cellular system operating according to a first RAT, the application having associated application preferences, determine that the associated application preferences indicate a switch to a second cellular system operating according to a second RAT, and delay the switch to the second cellular system until completion of the ongoing procedure.
