Handover based on wireless user equipment (UE) capabilities

A source access node that is configured to hand over a wireless User Equipment (UE) to a target access node. A radio wirelessly receives a measurement report from the UE that characterizes signal strength for the target access node, the signal strength for the source access node, and UE capabilities for the UE. Baseband circuitry determines to hand over the UE to the target access node based on the measurement report. The baseband circuitry receives UE load information from the target access node that indicates UE loads for the frequency bands of the target access node. The baseband circuitry determines UE capabilities for the overloaded frequency bands. The baseband circuitry transfers handover instructions to the UE that direct the UE to remove UE capabilities for the overloaded frequency bands. The UE updates the UE capabilities list and hands over to a non-overloaded frequency band of the target access node.

RRC RECONFIGURATIONS DURING CONDITIONAL HANDOVER

It is provided a method comprising: checking if an indication indicates that a target cell is configured to store concurrently first and second configurations of a terminal, wherein the first configuration is based on a first conditional handover request, and the second configuration data set is based on a second conditional handover request; monitoring if the source cell intends performing a radio reconfiguration of the terminal after the source cell configured the terminal for the first conditional handover; canceling the first conditional handover if the source cell intends performing the radio reconfiguration and the indication does not indicate the concurrently storing; instructing the source cell to request the second conditional handover from the target cell if the source cell intends performing the radio reconfiguration and the indication indicates the concurrently storing.

WIRELESS CLIENT DEVICE DETECTION AND STEERING ON A NETWORK WITH MULTIPLE ACCESS POINTS

A method for automatic steering of client devices accessing a network to a different access point on the network is provided. A network controller of the network device automatically identifies a pre-determined type of electronic client device gaining access to the network and automatically designates the client device as non-steerable when identified as the predetermined type of electronic client device. Thus, when the network controller selects a client device for being steered to a different access point of the network during a steering event, client devices designated as non-steerable by the network controller are prevented from being steered and only client devices that are not designated as non-steerable are available as candidates to be steered. A network device is also provided.

Methods and related devices for handling random access procedure in bandwidth part switching operation

A method for handling a Random Access (RA) procedure in the Bandwidth Part (BWP) switching operation includes: receiving, by a User Equipment (UE), Downlink Control Information (DCI) including a BWP switching indication via a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) when the UE performs a first RA procedure on a first BWP; and performing, by the UE, at least one of a plurality of procedures in response to the BWP switching indication. The procedures include: stopping the first RA procedure on the first BWP and initiating a second RA procedure on a second BWP indicated by the BWP switching indication; and ignoring the BWP switching indication to continue with the first RA procedure.

Systems and methods for passive collection of neighbor base station configuration information through handover messages

Passive collection of neighbor base station configuration information through handover messages is provided. In one embodiment, a base station comprises: a processor coupled to a memory, the base station coupled to a core network for a wireless network operator, the base station radiates downlink RF signals to at least one UE and receives uplink RF signals from the UE. The processor implements: a UE handover function that receives and processes a handover request message associated with a UE transferring to the cell from a neighboring cell; and a handover request parser that evaluates information elements in the handover request message to extract neighbor information. The handover request parser stores the extracted neighbor information as a set of neighbor information in the memory; and wherein the processor is configured to adjust operation of the base station based on the set of neighbor information stored in the memory.
