MULTI-PIECE SOLID GOLF BALL
A golf ball having a core, a cover and at least one intermediate layer therebetween satisfies specific conditions concerning the relative surface hardnesses of the core, the intermediate layer-encased sphere and the ball, and has a specific core hardness profile. Also, the value V/H, where V is the initial velocity of the ball and H is the deflection of the ball under specific loading, is set within a specific range. The ball has a construction which, when used by the ordinary amateur golfer, reduces the spin rate on full shots, enabling good distances to be obtained both on shots with a driver and on shots with an iron. The ball also has a soft yet crisp feel at impact.
DIMPLE PATTERNS FOR GOLF BALLS
The present invention provides a method for arranging dimples on a golf ball surface in which the dimples are arranged in a pattern derived from at least one irregular domain generated from a regular or non-regular polyhedron. The method includes choosing control points of a polyhedron, generating an irregular domain based on those control points, packing the irregular domain with dimples, and tessellating the irregular domain to cover the surface of the golf ball. The control points include the center of a polyhedral face, a vertex of the polyhedron, a midpoint or other point on an edge of the polyhedron and others. The method ensures that the symmetry of the underlying polyhedron is preserved while minimizing or eliminating great circles due to parting lines.
GOLF BALL HAVING OVAL DIMPLES
A golf ball includes oval dimples arranged on the surface thereof. Each of the oval dimples has a long diameter DL and a short diameter DS in a planar shape thereof and further having a depth DPL on a first cross section of the oval dimple along the long diameter DL and a depth DPS on a second cross section of the oval dimple along the short diameter DS, the depth DPL being a distance taken on the first cross section along the long diameter DL from a first line connecting both ends of the first cross section of the oval dimple to a deepest point of a dimple bottom surface, the depth DPS being a distance taken on the second cross section along the short diameter DS from a second line connecting both ends of the second cross section of the oval dimple to a deepest point of a dimple bottom surface, a relationship between the depth DPL and the depth DPS being defined as a following formula (1):
DPS>DPL(1).
Each of the oval dimples further having a cross-sectional area DLA on the first cross section of the oval dimple along the long diameter DL and a cross-sectional area DSA on the second cross section of the oval dimple along the short diameter DS, the cross-sectional area DLA being surrounded by the first line connecting both ends of the first cross section of the oval dimple and the bottom surface thereof, the cross-sectional area DSA being surrounded by the second line connecting both ends of the second cross section of the oval dimple and the bottom surface thereof, a relationship between the cross-sectional area DLA and the cross-sectional area DSA being defined as a following formula (2):
DLADSA(2).
LOW DIMPLE COVERAGE AND LOW DRAG GOLF BALL
A golf ball has a lower drag than conventional golf balls due to the arrangement of dimples on the outer surface of the golf ball, which arrangement produces a correspondingly lower percentage of outer surface area that is covered by the dimples. In particular, dimple coverage area may be less than 70%, and more specifically between about 18.6% and about 60.8%, of the outer surface area. Various combinations of dimple characteristics can be combined to produce the low dimple coverage, low drag golf ball, such as the number of dimples, pattern and spacing of dimples, dimple diameter, dimple depth, and dimple shape. The dimple characteristics can be selected so that the golf ball meets the requirements of the United States Golf Association and other golf organizations.
GOLF BALL
An object of the present disclosure is to provide a golf ball that rolls in a lowered distance on fairway wood shots. The present disclosure provides a golf ball comprising a spherical core, an intermediate layer covering the spherical core, and an outermost cover positioned outside the intermediate layer and having a plurality of dimples formed thereon, wherein the spherical core is formed from a rubber composition containing a base rubber, a co-crosslinking agent, and a crosslinking initiator, the base rubber contains a natural rubber, and an occupation ratio of a total area of the plurality of dimples in a surface area of a virtual sphere that is assumed to have no dimples on the outermost cover is 45% or more and less than 75%.

Heptagonal dipyramid dimple pattern for a golf ball
A golf ball has a generally spherical surface and a plurality of dimples formed on the surface. The dimples are arranged in a dimple pattern defined by a heptagonal dipyramid projected on the surface. The pattern includes fourteen substantially identical dimple sections including seven dimple sections in a first hemisphere and seven dimple sections in a second hemisphere.
