FRONTHAUL INTERFACE FOR ADVANCED SPLIT-RADIO ACCESS NETWORK (RAN) SYSTEMS

In one embodiment, a distributed unit (DU) is configured to do the following in connection with wirelessly transmitting user data to a UE using less than all of a plurality of radio units (RUs): include, in one or more user-plane messages for that UE that are communicated to the RUs, common header fields that contain a RU mask field for storing a bit mask comprising a plurality of bit positions. Each bit position is associated with a respective one of the RUs. Each RU is configured to: use the respective RU mask field included in any user-plane messages received by that RU in order to determine if the received user-plane message is intended for that RU and use the received message if the received message is intended for that RU and discard the received message if the received message is not intended for that RU.

Semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) for sidelink groupcast

Systems and methods for implementing semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) transmission of periodic messages via one or more sidelinks are described. SPS for a sidelink groupcast may be activated and/or deactivated using SPS control signaling for the sidelink groupcast. SPS control signaling utilized for activating/deactivating SPS for a sidelink groupcast may include a SPS indicator (e.g., conveyed at least in part via SCI format 0-1 message), an activation/deactivation indicator (e.g., conveyed at least in part via SCI format 0-1 message and/or SCI format 0-2 message), and/or a configuration index (e.g., conveyed at least in part via SCI format 0-1 message and/or SCI format 0-2 message). Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Datapath load distribution for a RIC

To provide a low latency near RT RIC, some embodiments separate the RIC's functions into several different components that operate on different machines (e.g., execute on VMs or Pods) operating on the same host computer or different host computers. Some embodiments also provide high speed interfaces between these machines. Some or all of these interfaces operate in non-blocking, lockless manner in order to ensure that critical near RT RIC operations (e.g., datapath processes) are not delayed due to multiple requests causing one or more components to stall. In addition, each of these RIC components also has an internal architecture that is designed to operate in a non-blocking manner so that no one process of a component can block the operation of another process of the component. All of these low latency features allow the near RT RIC to serve as a high speed IO between the E2 nodes and the xApps.

This application relates to the field of communications technologies, and discloses a communication method and apparatus. The method includes: when a terminal device determines transmission statuses of N time-frequency resource groups based on transmission indication information sent by a network device, if a time-frequency resource group is separated into a former half and a latter half by one or more first symbols in time domain, the former half of the time-frequency resource group may be combined into a previous time-frequency resource group of the time-frequency resource group, or the latter half of the time-frequency resource group may be combined into a next time-frequency resource group of the time-frequency resource group, to determine a transmission status. This ensures continuity, in time domain, of the time-frequency resource group indicated by the transmission indication information, and can avoid unnecessary uplink transmission cancellation or downlink transmission interruption, thereby increasing a network capacity.

Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for multi-user scheduling for minimizing transmission delay. A method of multi-user scheduling for minimizing transmission delay according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: (a) clustering at least one station (STA) among a plurality of STAs to a terminal cluster based on transmission delay for each of the plurality of STAs; (b) transmitting a trigger frame including scheduling information about the terminal cluster including said at least one STA to said at least one STA; and (c) receiving uplink data from said at least one STA in response to the transmission of the trigger frame.

Priority handling for prose communications

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for priority handling for ProSe Communications. A relay wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may act as a relay between the network and the remote WTRU. The relay WTRU may receive a temporary mobile group identity (TMGI) request message from a remote WTRU. The TMGI request message may include a TMGI, a ProSe per packet priority level associated with the TMGI, etc. The relay WTRU may receive an evolved multimedia broadcast multicast service (eMBMS) data packet from a network. The eMBMS may be associated with the TMGI. The relay WTRU may apply the received ProSe per packet priority level associated with the TMGI to the received eMBMS data packet. The relay WTRU may relay the eMBMS data packet to the remote WTRU based on the ProSe per packet priority level. The relay WTRU may forward the eMBMS data packet to the remote WTRU via a PC5 interface.
