Water Heater
A water heater including a cabinet having an inlet, an outlet, and a flow path disposed between the inlet and the outlet and having a plurality of upper and lower junctions to redirect the flow path. Each lower junction includes a drain port. A flow rate sensor measures the flow rate of the fluid through the flow path, an inlet temperature sensor measures an inlet temperature, an and outlet temperature sensor measures the outlet temperature. Heating elements are disposed along the flow path between the inlet and outlet temperature sensors, and intermediate temperature sensors are disposed adjacent respective heating elements to measure an intermediate temperature within the flow path. A controller operates the heating elements to heat a fluid within the flow path to a predetermined set point temperature based on the measurements of the flow rate sensor and temperature sensors.

HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE WITH IMMERSIBLE HEATER
A household appliance is configured to implement an automatic cycle of operation for treating an article. The household appliance includes a treating chamber configured to receive the article for treatment according to the automatic cycle of operation. A sump is fluidly coupled to the treating chamber. A liquid circuit is fluidly coupled to at least one of the treating chamber or the sump. An immersible heater is located within the sump.

CERAMIC HEATER FOR HEATING WATER IN AN APPLIANCE
An appliance for heating fluid includes a reservoir for holding the fluid during use. One or more ceramic heaters mount with the reservoir to heat the fluid. The heater includes electrically resistive traces thick-film printed on a substrate. The heaters optionally mount with a heat transfer element having a relatively large surface area. The heat transfer element typifies a conductive element, such as an aluminum plate of forged aluminum. The plate has cavities to retain the heaters or sections fitted about heaters. Holes through a thickness of the plate induce turbulent fluid flow as the fluid freely passes there through during use. Heater control and mounting are still other aspects of the technology.
