Method for forming golf ball and mold therefor
A method for forming a golf ball provides a core member comprising a core of a golf ball into a cavity of a mold so that the core member is supported by a movable holding pin disposed in the mold; forming a layer outside the core member by injecting a material of the layer into the cavity; and retracting the pin from the cavity into the mold during the material injection so that a portion projecting from a surface of the layer is formed by a tip of the pin, the projecting portion having a site area of at least 0.2% in relation to an entire area of the tip of the pin and having a height of at least 0.2 mm. This method can be implemented by controlling the retraction of the pin, or alternatively by using the pin having a predetermined indentation portion on the tip.
GOLF BALLS HAVING COVERS MADE WITH THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE AND POLYDIMETHYLSILOXANE BLEND COMPOSITIONS
Golf balls having covers made of thermoplastic polyurethane compositions are provided. Multi-piece golf balls can be made. In one embodiment, the outer cover layer is formed from a composition comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane and polydimethylsiloxane compound. Functionalized polydimethylsiloxane compounds also can be used to treat thermoplastic polyurethane golf ball covers. The cover composition and surface coatings can further include catalysts, ultraviolet (UV)-light stabilizers, and other additives. The coating methods have many benefits and the finished balls with thermoplastic polyurethane covers have good physical properties.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A GOLF BALL HAVING A COVER WITH NETWORK STRUCTURE
The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a golf ball having a cover with network structure which includes the steps of forming a core layer and forming a cover layer to enclose the core layer. The method characterized in that the cover layer forming step includes the steps of: mixing 90 wt % of a Surlyn resin with 10 wt % of a whisker reinforced material to form a whisker composition; mixing the whisker composition with another Surlyn resin to form a cover layer material, wherein the content of the whisker composition is between 0.1 and 10 phr on the basis of 100 phr of the another Surlyn resin; and injecting the cover layer material to form the cover layer with a whisker-based three-dimensional network structure. The golf ball, after being shot, can achieve both a long flight distance and a greater amount of backspin.
Frangible golf ball
A method of dispersing ashes of a subject comprising cremating the subject's body to form ashes, and introducing a sample of the ashes into a spherical golf ball having a frangible outer surface and at least one inner cavity.
GOLF BALL
An object of the present invention is to provide a golf ball travelling a great flight distance on driver shots, exhibiting an excellent spin performance on approach shots under a dry condition and a wet condition, and showing an excellent shot feeling and durability. The present invention provides a golf ball comprising a golf ball body having a spherical core, an intermediate layer and a cover, and a paint film composed of two or more layers, wherein a 10% elastic modulus difference (M.sub.in-M.sub.out) between an innermost layer and an outermost layer of the paint film is 25 kgf/cm.sup.2 or more.

Golf ball having CoR of at least 0.700 and comprising: a substantially spherical subassembly having diameter of 1.3 inches or greater and compression of from about 15-60; and a thin outer layer having a compression molded thickness of about 0.015-0.055 inches and consisting of first and second hemispherical cups consisting of a polymer composition having a melt flow index at 190 C. under a 2.16-kg load of from about 0.8 g/10 min. to about 4 g/10 min. and having a cup thickness ratio of from about 1.10 to 1.70 as well as an inner surface that is sized, shaped and contoured to receive and conformally and adhesively mate onto and about the subassembly during compression molding such that the subassembly in the finished golf ball is substantially spherical and disposed concentrically within the thin outer layer. Also, the novel hemispherical cups and the method of making the golf ball.
GOLF BALL
In a golf ball having a core and a cover consisting of a plurality of layers that encases the core, adhesion between adjoining cover layers is improved by judicious selection of the materials making up the cover layers, providing the ball with an improved durability to impact without diminishing the ball initial velocity.
