Golf ball

A golf ball includes a spherical core and a cover. The core includes an inner core, a mid core, and an outer core. A hardness H(C) is equal to or greater than a hardness H(B). A hardness H(E) is equal to or greater than a hardness H(D). An angle is calculated by (Formula 1) from a thickness Y (mm) of the mid core, the hardness H(C), and the hardness H(D). An angle is calculated by (Formula 2) from a thickness Z (mm) of the outer core, the hardness H(E), and the hardness H(F). Each of the angle and a difference () between the angles and is equal to or greater than 0. The golf ball has excellent flight performance upon a shot with a driver.
=(180/)*a tan [{H(D)H(C)}/Y](Formula 1)
=(180/)*a tan [{H(F)H(E)}/Z](Formula 2)

GOLF BALL

In a golf ball having a core, a cover and at least one intermediate layer formed therebetween, the core, intermediate layer and cover have respective specific gravities with a standard deviation of not more than 0.07 or less, the cover has a material hardness on the Shore D hardness scale of 52 or less, and the ball has a deflection when compressed under a final load of 1,275 N (130 kgf) from an initial load of 98 N (10 kgf) which is 2.8 mm or less. The amount of deviation in the ball center of gravity is exceedingly small, increasing the straightness with which the ball rolls on putts with a putter.

Compositions including a resiliency additive and golf ball components made from such compositions having a tailored Coefficient of Restitution are disclosed. The type and concentration of the constituents in the composition, including the resiliency additive, affects the Coefficient of Restitution of components made from the composition and, thus, can be used to produce a golf ball having desirable performance characteristics.

Method and system utilizing imaging analysis for golf balls

A method and system for determining concentricity of a multiple layer golf ball are disclosed herein. One or more images of a golf ball are generated using an X-ray source, a camera or a digital detector, and an image intensifier. An edge detection algorithm is preferably utilized. The method also includes calculating Y,Z center coordinates of the a best fit diameter or ellipse of the inner edge layer and outer edge layer of the multiple layer golf ball.

Golf ball including protrusions on intermediate layer

A golf ball is disclosed herein that includes an intermediate layer having protrusions. Among other advantages, the geometry and profile of the protrusions are optimized to provide increased stiffness on shots with higher club head speeds, while maintaining the volume of the softer cover material in order to maintain sufficient spin on wedge shots. The protrusions are further configured to transfer energy during high speed club impacts and more efficiently reduce long game spin.

Golf ball having at least one radar detectable mark

A golf ball is disclosed herein that includes at least one radar detectable mark such that a projected pattern is formed when the at least one radar detectable mark is radially projected onto an outer surface of the golf ball. The projected pattern can have a first wave profile mapped along a path defined by a first spherical arc on the outer surface of the golf ball. The projected pattern can comprise at least one first crest and at least one first trough. The projected pattern can have a periodic function selected from: a sine wave, a sawtooth wave, a triangle wave, or a square wave.

Golf ball having a radar detectable mark

Golf balls including one or more layers having at least one radar detectable mark disposed on the surface thereof are provided.

Golf ball having at least one radar detectable mark

Golf balls including a plurality of radar detectable marks disposed on any single layer or among two or more layers thereof are provided. When all of the radar detectable marks present on any layer of the ball are radially projected onto the outer surface of the ball, the resulting overall pattern of projected radar detectable marks includes a series of three or marks located on a 1.5 mm wide great circle band on the outer surface of the ball.
