NON-CONFORMING GOLF BALLS MADE FROM PLASTICIZED THERMOPLASTIC MATERIALS

Golf balls having a single or dual-layered solid core are provided. In one embodiment, the golf ball has dimensions and properties that do not conform to the rules of the United States Golf Association (USGA). For example, the ball weight; ball size; ball spherical symmetry; ball initial velocity; and/or ball overall distance may fall outside of the USGA standards. The dual-layered core can have an inner core comprising a thermoplastic composition and surrounding outer core comprising a thermoset composition. In another embodiment, the dual-layered core has an inner core comprising a thermoplastic composition and outer core comprising a thermoset composition. The thermoplastic composition preferably comprises an ethylene acid copolymer ionomer and plasticizer. The thermoset composition preferably comprises polybutadiene rubber. The ball further includes a cover of at least one layer.

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF INDUCTION HEATING A GOLF BALL

The disclosed system can comprise a device that can be used to provide induction heating to one or more golf balls. The disclosed device comprises at least one induction coil and a housing that holds one or more golf balls. In some embodiments, the induction coil can take one or more turns around the housing. The induction coil generates a magnetic field surrounding the golf ball, inducing eddy currents in the central magnetic reactor within the golf ball interior. As a result, the golf ball is quickly, cleanly, and consistently heated without physical contact between the coil and the golf ball.

A golf ball having a center core, one or more envelope layer encasing the center core and one or more cover layer is provided wherein at least one envelope layer is formed of a rubber composition that includes (a) a diene rubber, (b) a tetrazine compound of a specific formula or a metal salt thereof, (c) an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salt and (d) an organic peroxide. A method for manufacturing the golf ball is also provided. The golf ball has a high rebound and durability. The manufacturing method, by eliminating the need to furnish equipment for a bonding step, lowers production costs and is industrially advantageous.

CURED PRODUCT OF GOLF BALL RUBBER COMPOSITION AND GOLF BALL

An object of the present invention is to provide a cured product of a golf ball rubber composition for constituting a golf ball having excellent shot feeling on both driver shots and approach shots. The present invention provides a cured product of a golf ball rubber composition, wherein the golf ball rubber composition contains (a) a base rubber, (b) an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid having 3 to 8 carbon atoms and/or a metal salt thereof as a co-crosslinking agent, and (c) a crosslinking initiator, and a product (hardness×(tan δ.sub.−80−tan δ.sub.0)) obtained by multiplying a slab hardness of the cured product of the golf ball rubber composition in Shore C hardness by a difference (tan δ.sub.−80−tan δ.sub.0) between a loss tangent of the cured product of the golf ball rubber composition at −80° C. (tan δ.sub.−80) and a loss tangent of the cured product of the golf ball rubber composition at 0° C. (tan δ.sub.0) is 28.0 or more.

Golf ball with electrical components

A golf ball comprising an electrical component is disclosed herein. The electrical component comprises an integrated circuit having a gyroscope, a magnetometer, and a BLUETOOTH low energy (BTLE) radio, and at least one battery. A body is composed of an epoxy material, and the body encompasses the electrical component.

Multi-piece solid golf ball

In a golf ball having a core, an intermediate layer and a cover, the intermediate layer-encased sphere has a higher surface hardness than the ball. The core hardness profile in the ball is designed such that the core surface has a Shore C hardness value which is at least 27 higher than the Shore C hardness value at the core center, and the surface areas A to F calculated from hardness differences between positions located at specific distances in the core and differences between the specific distances satisfy a specific formula. This golf ball has an excellent flight performance when struck by skilled amateur golfers and professionals, and also has a good controllability on shots with an iron.
