FOOTWEAR HEEL SPRING DEVICE
A device configured to surround a portion of a foot-receiving cavity at a heel region of an article of footwear comprises a control bar having a center segment, a first side arm extending from the center segment, and a second side arm spaced from the first side arm and extending from the center segment. The control bar may include a series of slats. A base supports the control bar and is connected to the first side arm and the second side arm. The control bar is biased to an unstressed position with the center segment a first distance from the base, and elastically bends under an applied force to a loaded position with the center segment a second distance from the base less than the first distance. The device stores potential energy that returns the control bar to the unloaded position upon removal of the applied load.

ORTHOTROPIC SOLE INSERT AND FOOTWEAR MADE THEREFROM
A fiber preform includes a substrate. A fiber bundle includes reinforcing fibers arranged on the substrate in a shape of a shoe sole and attached to the substrate by a plurality of stitches of the thermoplastic thread to form a first preform layer having a principal orientation. An orthotropic composite material shoe sole is also provided that includes the fiber preform with a cured molded resin surrounding the fiber preform, the cured molded resin having a shape of the shoe sole. A method of forming a fiber preform for use in a composite material shoe sole is also provided.
ORTHOTROPIC SOLE INSERT AND FOOTWEAR MADE THEREFROM
A fiber preform includes a substrate. A fiber bundle includes reinforcing fibers arranged on the substrate in a shape of a shoe sole and attached to the substrate by a plurality of stitches of the thermoplastic thread to form a first preform layer having a principal orientation. An orthotropic composite material shoe sole is also provided that includes the fiber preform with a cured molded resin surrounding the fiber preform, the cured molded resin having a shape of the shoe sole. A method of forming a fiber preform for use in a composite material shoe sole is also provided.
Shoe
A shoe includes a sole and an upper which together enable a user to put on the shoe quickly and easily. The upper includes a heel support member that is fixedly attached to and extending upwardly from a rear portion of the sole, and a toe box fixedly attached to and extending upwardly from a front portion to form a toe receiving recess. A middle flap is fixedly attached to and extending upwardly from a first side edge of the sole and extending to a terminal edge, the middle flap pivoting between an open position wherein the shoe is adapted to receive the user's foot, and a closed position wherein the middle flap is closed over the user's foot. The shoe further includes a fastener for fastening the terminal edge of the middle flap to a second side edge of the sole.
Shoe
A shoe includes a sole and an upper which together enable a user to put on the shoe quickly and easily. The upper includes a heel support member that is fixedly attached to and extending upwardly from a rear portion of the sole, and a toe box fixedly attached to and extending upwardly from a front portion to form a toe receiving recess. A middle flap is fixedly attached to and extending upwardly from a first side edge of the sole and extending to a terminal edge, the middle flap pivoting between an open position wherein the shoe is adapted to receive the user's foot, and a closed position wherein the middle flap is closed over the user's foot. The shoe further includes a fastener for fastening the terminal edge of the middle flap to a second side edge of the sole.
MATERIALS, METHODS OF MAKING, METHODS OF USE, AND ARTICLES INCORPORATING THE MATERIALS
The present disclosure is directed to uncured compositions that comprise a mixture of an uncured rubber with a polymeric hydrogel which, when cured to form crosslinks in the rubber, form elastomeric materials. The present disclosure is also directed to methods of using the uncured compositions and the elastomeric materials. The elastomeric materials can be used to make and/or incorporated into various types of articles (e.g., footwear, apparel, sporting equipment, or components of each).
