ILLUMINATION SYSTEM AND METHOD THAT PRESENTS A NATURAL SHOW TO EMULATE DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS WITH SMOOTHING DIMCURVE MODIFICATION THEREOF

An LED lamp and method are provided for autonomously changing the output brightness and color temperature of a plurality of LED strings to follow a first dimcurve in temporal synchronization with at least one other LED lamp. Synchronization is achieved based on a time of day determined using a clock signal. The output brightness and color temperature can transition from the first dimcurve to a second dimcurve over a predetermined number of scenes. The number of scenes is a function of a difference between the first dimcurve and the second dimcurve in at least one of the output brightness and the color temperature.

A display apparatus according to an embodiment of the present technology includes a display unit, a motion sensor, a region setting unit, and an information generating unit. The display unit includes a tubular display whose directional range in which an image is displayed is larger than 180 degrees. The motion sensor detects an observer who observes the display. The region setting unit sets a first region visible from the observer and a second region different from the first region as regions on the display on the basis of a detection result of the motion sensor. The information generating unit generates main information displayed in the first region and illumination information regarding illumination light presented in accordance with the second region.

Optical sources for fluorescent lifetime analysis

Compact optical sources and methods for producing short and ultrashort optical pulses are described. A semiconductor laser or LED may be driven with a bipolar waveform to generate optical pulses with FWHM durations as short as approximately 85 ps having suppressed tail emission. The pulsed optical sources may be used for fluorescent lifetime analysis of biological samples and time-of-flight imaging, among other applications.

The present disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for inducing a desired biological response in an organism through the use of one or more repetitive signals from one or a series of LED lights designed to emit the signal with multiple pulsed components. Each component of the signal contains a one or more light color spectrum or wavelength that is within 50 nm of the peak absorption of a photon receptor of the organism corresponding to the desired biological response. Each component has a repetitive ON duration with an OFF duration and an intensity where the relationship between the ON duration and OFF duration of the first component and the second component induces the desired response in the organism through the stimulation or excitation of a molecule associated with a photoreceptor and the reset of the molecule.
