Method, apparatus, and computer program product for measuring and interpreting metrics of an athletic action and an object associated therewith
Embodiments provided herein measure metrics of an athletic action and an object associated therewith, and more particularly, to measuring the metrics and characteristics of a baseball during the wind-up, release, flight, and catch of a pitch sequence. Methods may include: receiving, from at least one motion sensor associated with an object, acceleration data and angular velocity data of the object in response to an athletic action performed on the object; processing the acceleration data to establish vector rotation data between a frame of reference of the object and an Earth frame of reference; applying the vector rotation data to the acceleration data to obtain acceleration of the object in the Earth frame of reference; applying the vector rotation data to the angular velocity data to obtain angular velocity of the object in the Earth frame of reference.
PITCHING TRAINING AID
The present invention relates to a pitching training aid for shadow pitching training, the pitching training aid comprising: a receiving body which includes an inner receiving space and has openings at both sides thereof, and replicates a baseball in a state where a user encompasses and holds the receiving body with his/her hand or wears the receiving body on his/her fingers through the receiving space; a locking holder which is detachably inserted and fixed in the receiving space through the opening of the receiving body, and provides a locking region where locking through-holes are formed in the longitudinal direction, so as to allow at least one finger to be fitted and locked into the locking holder in the longitudinal direction, the locking holes extending in a curved shape having a predetermined curvature; and an elongated body which has a rod shape extending a predetermined length from one side of the receiving body, and provides load and vibration while being elastically deformed and restored by rotation of a user's arm.
Forearm Assessment and Training Devices, Systems, Kits, and Methods
A forearm assessment and training device has a main support, a plurality of finger motion transmission members, a plurality of finger receivers, and a control module. Each of the finger motion transmission members has a member body with a first end and a second end. The first end of the member body of each of the finger motion transmission members is connected to the main support. Each of the finger receivers is connected to the member body of one of the finger motion transmission members. Each of the finger receivers has a finger aperture. The control module is connected to the main support. The control module includes a control module processor, a control module memory, and a sensor. The sensor is configured to measure a force applied to at least one of the finger motion transmission members.
Spherical Cage Pitch Training Device with Spinning Ball
The Spherical Cage Pitch Training Device with Spinning Ball is a pitch training device or apparatus in the form of a spinning ball that can simulate any ball requiring gripping by the hand. In use, it is attached to a three-dimensional resistance means. The purpose of the pitch training device is to provide strengthening, rehabilitation, and/or correct body motion mechanics training to improve pitching quality, speed, strength, and body mechanics. This enables training, exercising, and rehabilitation of proper body motion mechanics for improving the act of pitching and increasing the performance (speed and/or accuracy) of the act by enabling weighted ball training wherein the weight of the ball is connected to and maintained in the center of the ball and the center of mass of the weight is maintained in the center (physical, geometric, and/or dimensional) of the ball.
Protective field screen
A protective field screen system that includes a screen frame system (including a screen frame and a protective screen that includes a netting coupled to the screen frame), a base frame to be disposed on a supporting surface, and resilient members. The screen frame coupled to the base frame by way of the resilient members, and the resilient members to deform to facilitate movement of the screen frame relative to the base frame.
Hand gripper for baseball player
A hand gripper for a baseball player according to the present invention comprises: a body which is provided to be covered by the index finger, middle finger, and thumb of a user; and an elastic body which is fastened to the body to provide an elastic force. Here, the body has a partially cut-out ring shape, and includes an upper end, a lower end, and a gripping surface having a selected radius of curvature. The gripping surface is provided: to include a first boundary line which crosses the gripping surface in the lateral direction, and first protrusions repeatedly formed along the first boundary line; and such that the upper end and the lower end of the body can come into contact with each other as the body bends when the user applies force while gripping the body.
TRAINING BALL
Training balls are presented including: a solid sphere defining a first hemisphere having a first surface and a second hemisphere having a second surface; a tactile feature positioned along the first surface and substantially centered with the first hemisphere, where the tactile feature includes: a center portion having a closed geometric shape; and a continuous grooved border encompassing the center portion; a first grooved feature positioned along the second surface, where the first grooved feature includes a first body segment; a second grooved feature positioned along the second surface, where the second grooved feature includes a second body segment, where the first body segment and the second body segment are substantially parallel, and where the first grooved feature and the second grooved feature are substantially centered with and solely upon the second hemisphere along the second surface.
SPORTS TARGET DEVICE
A sports target device having a base and a frame member projecting upwardly from the base when the device is in the use position. A panel is attached to the frame in a manner that produces a loud noise when struck by a projectile. The panel may include targeting indicia. The noise that is produce can be loud and of prolonged duration. Such a noise would be appreciated by some athletes, particularly young ones, who will thereby be encouraged to keep practicing.
WIRELESS PLAY COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
A wireless play communication system enables communications between a coach and a player. The system includes a coach communication device mounted in a first carrying device that is adapted to be carried by the coach, and a player communication device mounted in a second carrying device that is adapted to be carried by the player. An input mechanism of the coach communication device enables a coach to input a signal. Actuation of a pitch plus button functions to transmit the signal from the coach communication device to the player communication device, while also updating a pitch tracker which tracks the number of pitches thrown by the player. The pitch count is displayed on a pitch count display.
