Electronic devices with chemically strengthened coherent fiber bundles
An electronic device may have a display and other optical components such as optical sensors. The display and other components may be overlapped by chemically strengthened glass coherent fiber bundles. The surfaces of a coherent fiber bundle may include ion-exchanged glass that places theses surfaces under compressive stress. In some configurations, the coherent fiber bundle is symmetrically stressed and has equal amounts of compressive stress on opposing surfaces. In other configurations, the coherent fiber bundle is asymmetrically stressed and has more compressive stress on one surface than the other. The coherent fiber bundle may have areas with curved cross-sectional profiles, planar areas, and/or areas with compound curvature. Sensor windows may be formed in the coherent fiber bundle that are surrounded by an opaque area. When overlapping a display, the coherent fiber bundle may serve as a display cover glass layer.
DISPLAY DEVICE
A display device includes a display panel having a light-emitting region, an anti-reflection layer on the display panel, an impact protection layer on the anti-reflection layer and including a plurality of spacers, and a first window on the impact protection layer.
Foldable display device
A foldable display device including a lower module having a first side end disposed in a first side area of the foldable display device; a display module including: a main region including a display area and a first side end disposed in the first side area; a sub region disposed under the lower module, overlapping the main region, and having a first side end disposed in the first side area; and a bent region disposed between the first side ends of the main region and the sub region and having an outer surface between an upper surface of the main region and a lower surface of the sub region, and an inner surface between a lower surface of the main region and an upper surface of the sub region; and a functional module and a window module each having a first side end disposed in the first side area.
