OPTICALLY ANISOTROPIC FILM, OPTICAL FILM, POLARIZING PLATE, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE
An object of the present invention is to provide an optically anisotropic film which has excellent moisture-heat resistance and can have a reduction in the thickness, an optical film, a polarizing plate, and an image display device. The optically anisotropic film of the embodiment of the present invention is an optically anisotropic film obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable liquid crystal composition, in which the polymerizable liquid crystal composition contains a polymerizable liquid crystal compound represented by Formula (1) and a polymerizable liquid crystal compound represented by Formula (2), and the optically anisotropic film satisfies Formula (3) or (4), and has a degree of alignment as measured by Raman spectroscopy of 0.4 or more.

LAMINATE
An object of the present invention is to provide a laminate in which the coloring of reflected light is reduced. The laminate includes an optical film having a light absorption anisotropic film formed using a composition including a dichroic substance and having a transmittance of more than 50%, a /4 plate, and a metal electrode in this order, in which in a case where a degree (%) of polarization at a wavelength of of the optical film is defined as P() and a reflectance (%) at the wavelength of of the metal electrode is defined as R(), a ratio of a minimum value of R/P to a maximum value of R/P at wavelengths of 450 nm, 550 nm, and 650 nm is more than 85%.
SYNTHESES, CHARACTERIZATIONS, AND APPLICATIONS OF HELI-ACENES
A method is provided for using twisted acenes, and more particularly to configurationally stable twisted acenes that are imbedded into the structure of [7]helicene at the fulcrum ring to form useable material structures. The helicene propagates its chiral nature into the acene, while acting as a locking mechanism to thermal racemization. These doubly-helical compounds are part of a new homologous series of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, namely the [7]helitwistacenes. Such [7]helitwistacenes have utility as materials suitable for forming a circularly polarized organic light emitting diode (CP-OLED) for direct emission of circularly polarized (CP) light for the fabrication of high efficiency electronic displays.

Polarizing plate having optical compensation layer, and organic EL panel using same
There is provided a polarizing plate with optical compensation layers that achieves an excellent reflection hue and viewing angle characteristic, and has an excellent mechanical strength. The polarizing plate with optical compensation layers includes a polarizer, an optically anisotropic layer, a first optical compensation layer, and a second optical compensation layer in this order. The optically anisotropic layer shows a refractive index characteristic of nxny>nz, and has an Re(550) of from 0 nm to 20 nm and an Rth(550) of from 5 nm to 100 nm. The first optical compensation layer shows a refractive index characteristic of nx>nynz, and satisfies a relationship of Re(450)<Re(550). The second optical compensation layer shows a refractive index characteristic of nz>nxny. A laminate of the first optical compensation layer and the second optical compensation layer has an Re(550) of from 120 nm to 160 nm and an Rth(550) of from 50 nm to 80 nm.
Adhesive Composition and Use Thereof
A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition and a use thereof are provided. The present application can provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition which has excellent performance to block ultraviolet rays including a blue region of 380 nm or more and exhibits excellent durability upon reliability evaluation without deteriorating the optical characteristics of a polarizing plate when applied to the polarizing plate. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition of the present application can be used, for example, for a polarizing plate and an organic light emitting device.
Viewing angle switchable device and viewing angle switchable display module
A viewing angle switchable device including an absorptive polarizer, a reflective polarizer and an electrically controlled viewing angle switching element is provided. A transmission axis of the reflective polarizer is parallel to a transmission axis of the absorptive polarizer. The electrically controlled viewing angle switching element is disposed between the absorptive polarizer and the reflective polarizer and includes two transparent substrates, two transparent conductive layers and a liquid crystal layer including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules. When there is a potential difference between the two transparent conductive layers, an orthogonal projection of an optical axis of each of the plurality of liquid crystal molecules on the absorptive polarizer is parallel to or perpendicular to the transmission axis of the absorptive polarizer and the transmission axis of the reflective polarizer. A viewing angle switchable display module including the viewing angle switchable device is also provided.

A partial reflector including a plurality of optical repeat units where each optical repeat unit includes first and second polymer layers is described. A refractive index difference between the first and second polymer layers along a first axis may be Any, a refractive index difference between the first and second polymer layers along an orthogonal second axis may be , where || is at least 0.1 and |ny| is no more than 0.04. The optical repeat units may have a smallest optical thickness T1 proximate a first side of the optical stack and a largest optical thickness T2 proximate an opposite second side of the optical stack, where (T2T1)/(T2+T1) is in a range of 0.05 to 0.2, and T2 is at least 350 nm and no more 1250 nm. The partial reflector may be used in a circular polarizer for correcting color shift with view angle in a display.
