A dielectric elastomer transducer A1 includes a dielectric elastomer layer 2, a pair of electrode layers 3A, 3B sandwiching the dielectric elastomer layer 2, and a support 1 that supports the dielectric elastomer layer 2. The dielectric elastomer layer 2 includes a movable region 21 separated from the support 1 and a fixed region 22 supported by the support 1. A pair of conduction paths 8A, 8B are established that are configured to conduct electricity to the electrode layers 3A, 3B via power cables 4A, 4B and power supply points 6A, 6B at which core wires 41A, 41B of the power cables 4A, 4B are electrically connected, respectively. The power supply points 6A, 6B are separated from the movable region 21 of the dielectric elastomer layer 2. This arrangement improves the durability of the dielectric elastomer transducer.

Integrated sensor to monitor fluid delivery

A sensor for use in a fluid flow application is provided. The sensor includes an inlet chamber configured to receive a fluid flow from a first conduit, an outlet chamber configured to provide the fluid flow to a second conduit, and a membrane separating the inlet chamber from the outlet chamber, the membrane including a fluid passage to allow the fluid flow from the inlet chamber to the outlet chamber. The sensor also includes a circuit component disposed on the membrane, having an electrical property configured to change according to a deformation of the membrane, and a conductor formed on a substrate and coupled with the circuit component, to provide an electrical signal based on a change in the electrical property of the circuit component. The membrane includes an epitaxial layer formed on the substrate. Methods for fabricating and using the above sensor are also presented.

Resonator and resonance device

A resonator that includes a vibrating portion that has a piezoelectric film, and a lower and upper electrodes that face each other with the piezoelectric film interposed therebetween. Moreover, a holding portion is provided at least around a maximum displacement region of the vibrating portion and has an insulating film. A holding arm connects the vibrating portion and the holding portion, and include a conductive portion that is in contact with the insulating film of the holding portion in at least a region that faces the maximum displacement region of the vibrating portion. In addition, the conductive portion is electrically connected to the lower electrode or the upper electrode or is grounded.

BONE CONDUCTION MICROPHONES

The present disclosure is of a bone conduction microphone. The bone conduction microphone comprises of a laminated structure and a base structure. The laminated structure is formed by a vibration unit and an acoustic transducer unit. The base structure is configured to load the laminated structure. At least one side of the laminated structure is physically connected to the base structure. The base structure vibrates based on an external vibration signal, the vibration unit deforms in response to the vibration of the base structure, and the acoustic transducer unit generates an electrical signal based on the deformation of the vibration unit. A resonant frequency of the bone conduction microphone is within a range of 2.5 kHz-4.5 kHz.

PIEZOELECTRIC MICROMACHINED ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER HAVING REDUCED FREE OSCILLATIONS

A PMUT device includes a membrane element adapted to generate and receive ultrasonic waves by oscillating, about an equilibrium position, at a corresponding resonance frequency. A piezoelectric element is located over the membrane element along a first direction and configured to cause the membrane element to oscillate when electric signals are applied to the piezoelectric element, and generate electric signals in response to oscillations of the membrane element. A damper is configured to reduce free oscillations of the membrane element, and the damper includes a damper cavity surrounding the membrane element, and a polymeric member having at least a portion over the damper cavity along the first direction.

PIEZOELECTRIC MICROMACHINED ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER

A PMUT device includes a membrane element extending perpendicularly to a first direction and configured to generate and receive ultrasonic waves by oscillating about an equilibrium position. At least two piezoelectric elements are included, with each one located over the membrane element along the first direction and configured to cause the membrane element to oscillate when electric signals are applied to the piezoelectric element, and generate electric signals in response to oscillations of the membrane element. The membrane element has a lobed shape along a plane perpendicular to the first direction, with the lobed shape including at least two lobes. The membrane element includes for each piezoelectric member a corresponding membrane portion including a corresponding lobe, with each piezoelectric member being located over its corresponding membrane portion.
