Galton configuration in golf ball receiving apparatus and systems
Systems and apparatus for receiving golf balls include an apparatus including: a body having an ingress and an egress for golf balls passing through the body, wherein each of the golf balls includes a radio frequency identification tag; at least one antenna of a radio frequency identification reader, the at least one antenna arranged with respect to the body to receive information from the golf balls for identification of the golf balls; and multiple protrusions located within the body, the multiple protrusions being positioned with respect to each other in a Galton configuration that both (i) impedes the golf balls from passing through the body without being read by the radio frequency identification reader, and (ii) allows the golf balls to pass through the body without jamming therein.
Verification system and method having dual ball rejection
A golf ball verification system and method is described. The illustrative golf ball verification system includes balls, bays and at least one target. Each of the balls includes a unique ID indicator. Additionally, each of the bays includes a ball dispenser, a first ball ID reader, a first diverter, and a first reject ball chute. The first ball ID reader identifies any of the balls having unreadable ID indicators. The first diverter selects any of the balls having unreadable ID indicators for collection by the first reject ball chute. Furthermore, each target includes a ball detector, a second ball ID reader, a second diverter, and a second reject ball chute. The second ball ID reader identifies any of the balls having unreadable ID indicators. The second diverter selects the balls having unreadable ID indicators for collection by the second reject ball chute.
Method and system utilizing a golf shot API proxy
A method and system for providing shot tracking data to a client device is disclosed herein. The system includes multiple golf ball tracking sensors positioned at multiple golf driving ranges, multiple shot application programming interfaces (API), and a shot API proxy. Each of the shot APIs is configured to receive shot data from each of the golf ball tracking sensors at a corresponding golf driving range venue such as a TOPGOLF? entertainment venue.
Golf swing training aid
A golf training apparatus includes an elongated member having opposite first and second ends. A base is coupled to the first end of the elongated member; and the base includes an end portion to secure the apparatus in a stationary position so that the elongated member extends upward from the base. A top piece is coupled to the second end of the elongated member, and the top piece includes a sight through which a golfer may view a golf ball positioned near the base.
Multiple sensor tracking system and method
A system and method for tracking the flight of golf balls at driving range. The system includes a plurality of hitting stations, a plurality of sensors, a computer, and a range surface. Each hitting station in the plurality of hitting stations includes a golf ball, a golf club, a monitor, and a sensor. At least one other sensor in the plurality of sensors is placed outside a hitting station. The flight path of the golf balls being calculated by the computer using parameters by the plurality of sensors. The method includes steps for determining whether a first sensor detected a first parameter and a second parameter, whether a second sensor detected a first and a second parameter, whether a third sensor detected a third parameter, and depicting the flight path of the golf balls using the first parameter, the second parameter, and the third parameter.
Par Method of Playing Target Golf With Limited Flight Balls
A game of target golf and a method for scoring are disclosed that generally involves a multi-zone target and a par scoring system that more accurately reflects and trains users to play traditional golf. The games may use of golf ball with limited flight capabilities that allows the players to play in smaller ranges, and with more versatile targets.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR 3D OPTICAL TRACKING OF MULTIPLE IN-FLIGHT GOLF BALLS
A system for visually tracking the trajectory of an in-flight golf ball through an x-y-z space above a driving range includes a plurality of cameras for respectively creating a video stream of the x-y-z space. Each video stream is presented on a dedicated camera focal plane with information on respective azimuth angles and elevation angles from the particular camera to the in-flight golf ball. A central computer is connected with the camera focal plane of each camera to identify a start point for the golf ball, to track its trajectory in the x-y-z space, and to filter out background clutter. A visual display is provided to show the in-flight golf ball from its start point to a target point in real time.
