Ethylene-methoxy polyethylene glycol methacrylate copolymers

The copolymerization of ethylene (E) and methoxy polyethylene glycol methacrylate (MPEGMA) produces the copolymer co-E-MPEGMA. These copolymers are distinct from polyethylene, e.g., low density polyethylene (LDPE) grafted with MPEGMA, i.e., g-E-MPEGMA, and are useful in the preparation of insulation sheaths for medium, high and extra-high voltage cables. Such cables exhibit good water tree retardance.

Assemblage for blocking water
20220181797 · 2022-06-09 ·

A solid ring-conductor assemblage (20) blocks water from migrating in the axial direction of an electrical stranded conductor (1). The solid ring-conductor assemblage (20) has a ring and an electrical stranded conductor. The diameter of an initial opening of the ring exceeds an outer diameter of the stranded conductor (1). The solid ring-conductor assemblage (20) is obtained by the process of placing the ring in an installed position where the electrical stranded conductor (1) runs through the initial opening. A compressive force (F) is applied onto the ring (2) in the installed position thereby compressing the ring (2) as well as the portion of the electrical stranded conductor (1) as covered by the ring into a compressed state. The compressed ring and the compressed portion of the electrical stranded conductor bonds as an entity providing the solid ring-conductor assemblage (20). A ring is provided to obtain the solid ring-conductor assemblage; a cable has a stranded electrical conductor where at least one ring is compressed around the electrical stranded conductor; and a method includes manufacturing an electrical stranded conductor arranged with at least one solid ring-conductor assemblage.

Systems and methods for injecting electrical cables with a fluid

An adapter probe configured for injecting fluid (e.g., liquid, gas) into at least one electrical cable. Particularly for injecting an electrical cable with a fluid when the electrical cable is affixed to a separable connector (e.g., elbow separable connector). Separable connector may be configured to connect sources of energy (e.g., transformer, circuit breaker) with distribution systems via electrical cable (or cable section).

Electric current supply system, designed to be at least partially submerged in an electrically conductive liquid during operation thereof

An electric current supply system (20) is designed to be at least partially submerged in an electrically conductive liquid during operation thereof, and having at least one electrically conductive component (21, 22, 23, 24) enveloped in liquid-tight material (40). The component (21, 22, 23, 24) has a sacrificial material that is capable of reacting electrochemically with the liquid. Further, the component (21, 22, 23, 24) has at least one gas trap portion (50) at which the sacrificial material occupies a space in the liquid-tight material (40) that is thereby defined with a gas trapping shape. If, in case of damage to the system (20) in an actual submerged state thereof, the component (21, 22, 23, 24) gets exposed to the liquid, it is achieved that an electrochemical reaction occurring at the exposed area of the component (21, 22, 23, 24) and an outflow of electric current to the liquid are stopped.

Power cable

Provided is a power cable, and more particularly, to an ultra-high-voltage underground or submarine cable. In detail, the present invention relates to a power cable which is capable of effectively preventing a decrease in dielectric strength due to penetration of copper powder from a copper conductor into an insulating layer, thereby increasing the lifespan thereof, is capable of preventing damage to insulating paper, semiconductor paper, etc. even when repeatedly bent and unfolded, thereby maintaining an interlayer structure formed by winding the insulating paper, the semiconductor paper, etc., and is capable of improving bendability, flexibility, installability, workability, etc.

Method of making adhesive wrapping tape for bundling cables in cars

An adhesive tape is made by hot calendering a substrate between two generally identical rolls one of which is heated to a different temperature than the other roll while rotating the rolls at the same peripheral speed to flatten one face of the substrate and reduce air permeability of the substrate by at least 15%. Then an adhesive coating is applied to at least one of the faces of the substrate.

Peroxide-curable polyolefin composition

A peroxide-curable polyolefin composition comprising a peroxide-curable polyolefin prepolymer, an organic peroxide, and 4-[[4,6-bis(octylthio)-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl]amino]-2,6-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-phenol. Also, a peroxide-cured polyolefin product prepared therefrom, methods of making and using same, and articles containing or made from same.

Leading/lagging cable referencing platform for monitoring the health of underground cable networks

A system for detecting water trees in branching underground electrical cables includes a pulse generator configured to inject a pulse into a first underground cable that branches into a second underground cable and a third underground cable. The system includes a first sensor associated with the first cable, a second sensor associated with the second cable, and a third sensor associated with the third cable. The system includes a control device configured to obtain a first, second, and third signal associated with the first, second and third sensors, respectively. The control device determines a lead-lag relationship between the second and third signals and determines presence of a water tree within at least one of the second and third cable based on the lead-lag relationship. When presence of a water tree is determined, the control device generates a control action associated with repairing or replacing the second and/or third cable.
