RETRACTABLE DISPLAYS
A device's display can be moved based on sensor data to protect the display. The display can be moved via springs and/or electromagnets. The display can be moved into a safe recessed position, allowing a frame to absorb impacts that might otherwise damage the display. The display can also be moved back out of the recessed position.
Method for controlling an actuator
A method for operating an electromagnetic actuator (10) with an actuating pin (9) is proposed which comprises the following steps: —determining a pin actuation actual dead time (t11), during which the magnetic armature (15) is substantially immobile while a magnetic coil (12) is supplied with current, wherein the actual dead time ends with the current break-in at the magnetic coil, as a result of counter induction of the magnetic armature overcoming the magnetic force threshold; —determining, before a subsequent pin actuation, the starting time of the magnetic coil current supply, wherein the starting point of the current is advanced compared with that of the target movement start of the pin out of the actuator housing (13) and the determined actual dead time.
Linear Motor Valve Actuator System and Method for Controlling Valve Operation
A linear motor actuated valve assembly in which a linear motor enables electrical actuation and control of intake and exhaust valves of an internal combustion engine.

COIL ACTUATOR FOR LV OR MV APPLICATIONS
The present invention relates to a coil actuator (1) for low and medium voltage applications, which comprises a electromagnet (2) operatively associated with a movable plunger (8), a power & control unit (3) electrically connected with said electromagnet (2) and first and second input terminals (T1, T2) operatively connected with said power & control unit, wherein an input voltage (VIN) is applied between said first and input terminals during the operation of said coil actuator.
The said power & control unit is adapted to provide subsequent launch pulses of drive current (IC) to said electromagnet (2), which are separated in time by at least a predetermined time interval (TI), in response to subsequent transitions of said input voltage (VIN) from values lower than said first threshold voltage (VTH1) to values higher than said first threshold voltage.

Fluid injector
A fluid injector comprising a coil arranged to drive a pump from a first state to a second state when energized, so as to pump a dosing fluid; a PN junction electrically arranged across the coil to discharge energy stored in the coil when the voltage across the coil is above a threshold. In one particular embodiment, the fluid injector is a selective catalytic reduction dosing fluid injector.
APPLICATOR COMPRISING AN INTEGRATED CONTROL CIRCUIT
The disclosure concerns an applicator, in particular a printhead, for applying a coating agent, in particular a paint, to a component, in particular to a motor vehicle body component or an attachment for a motor vehicle body component, having a plurality of nozzles for applying the coating agent in the form of a coating agent jet, and a plurality of coating agent valves for controlling the release of the coating agent through the individual nozzles, and having a plurality of electrically controllable actuators for controlling the coating agent valves. The disclosure provides that a control circuit for electrically controlling the actuators is integrated in the applicator.
ELECTRO-PERMANENT MAGNET THERMAL PROTECTION
De-magnetization protection is provided for electro-permanent magnets during information handling system manufacture and use by monitoring thermal conditions at the information handling systems to detect a thermal state associated with de-magnetization and commanding the electro-permanent magnets to an off state so that both magnets in the electro-permanent magnet have opposing polarities. The opposing polarities tend to stabilize magnet polarity to prevent de-magnetization during increased temperatures. Normal operations are then re-enabled once temperatures decrease.
ACTUATION SYSTEM TO ACHIEVE SOFT LANDING AND THE CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
An actuation system to achieve soft landing and the control method thereof are provided. A soft landing is achieved via an open loop control of an electromagnetic actuator. The actuation system includes a control unit, wherein the control unit controls the electromagnetic actuator. The control unit does not rely on sensor data regarding a position of an armature to achieve the soft landing. As the actuation system achieves soft landing via the open loop control of the electromagnetic actuator by the control unit, a use of the sensor data is not needed.
