The present invention is directed, in part, to a system and methods for combining newly designed cardiovascular equipment with the added features of an upper body weight training regimen in order to provide a user a full body workout, cardiovascular exercise and weight training simultaneously. The invention does so by employing either a weight tray apparatus configured to newly designed cardiovascular equipment or machine or through the use of an adjustable weight training apparatus combined with the newly designed cardiovascular equipment or machine. More specifically, the present invention relates to a system and methods for combining newly designed cardiovascular equipment including stationary and recumbent bikes, elliptical machines, treadmills and stair steppers, with a tray apparatus that allows a user to employ free weights. The invention further relates to a system and methods for combining newly designed cardiovascular equipment including stationary and recumbent bikes, elliptical machines, treadmills and stair steppers that are configured with an adjustable weight training apparatus that allows a user to build upper body muscle groups simultaneously with cardiovascular exercise, in effect, providing a full body workout.

A method for enjoying an audio component of a multimedia content during a workout includes establishing, by a portable electronic device of a user, a data connection with a user interface of an exercise machine employable by the user during the workout, providing a video component of a multimedia content usable during the workout at the exercise machine, streaming an audio component of the multimedia content to the portable electronic device of the user, adapted to perform the workout at the exercise machine, and playing, by the portable electronic device of the user, the audio component of the multimedia content by an audio speaker operatively associated with the portable electronic device of the user during a playing time, by the user interface of the exercise machine, of the video component of the multimedia content by a display module of the user interface of the exercise machine.

Disclosed is system and method for measuring the tension of a tennis net, and, alternatively or in addition, for determining if a service let occurs via the measuring of the net tension. The disclosed embodiments measure a force exerted on the center-strap or the singles stick by the net. In these embodiments, the measured force provides an accurate reflection of the tension of the net.

An exercise system may include an exercise mat; sensors integrated into the exercise mat, each of the sensors configured to sense when a force is applied to a respective portion of the exercise mat; and displays coupled to the exercise mat and configured to display indications corresponding to desired locations for body parts of a user in accordance with an exercise routine. On one or more of the displays, indications corresponding to desired locations of a user’s body part may be displayed in accordance with a form of one of stored exercise routines; and one or more of the sensors may sense an application of force to the exercise mat. An isokinetic rotational exercise device provides for training and collection of information of a knee joint as it rotates. The isokinetic rotational exercise device includes vertical supports attached to a base frame that provides for an inclusion of rotational foot plates. The rotational foot plates are connected to cables of a pulley system that allows for an ability to add resistance of free weights and resistance tubing. Bottoms of the rotational foot plates include sensors to measure rotational degree, and the corresponding information is sent to a processor for display on a monitor on the isokinetic rotational exercise device or to an external device. A degree of force used to turn the rotational foot plates when the resistance is added is data collectable through force sensors in the cables of the pulley system.

A method for displaying archived exercise classes comprising displaying information about archived exercise classes that can be accessed by a first user via a computer network on a display screen at a first location, wherein the first user can select among a plurality of archived classes, outputting digital video and audio content comprising the selected archived class, detecting a performance parameter for the first user at a particular point in the selected class, displaying the performance parameter on the display screen, and displaying performance parameters from a second user at a second location on the display screen such that at least one of the performance parameters from the first user and at least one of the performance parameters from the second user at the same point in the class are presented for comparison.
