METHOD OF MAKING AND SYNTHESIZING DIELECTRIC NANOFLUIDS
A method of making and synthesizing dielectric nanofluids with hybrid colloidal iron oxide nanoparticles coated with oleic acid and by usage of natural ester oil matrix instead of mineral oil. The final product of dielectric nanofluid has enhanced dielectric and thermal properties without agglomeration and precipitation of the nanoparticles. The final product is intended to be used as dielectric insulation and cooling media for high voltage equipment/applications and/or other applications.
FERROFLUIDIC COOLING AND ACOUSTICAL NOISE REDUCTION IN MAGNETIC STIMULATORS
A ferrofluid chamber has a housing that is adapted to be coupled to a component that generates a magnetic field. The housing may be disposed around the component so as to insulate a noise-producing region of the component. The magnetic field may be of sufficient strength to stimulate anatomical tissue. In addition, a ferrofluid may be disposed within the housing for cooling the component.
FRACTAL SWITCHING SYSTEMS AND RELATED ELECTROMECHANICAL DEVICES
This invention entails the use of fractal shapes as cores for electromagnets, and a concurrent shape of a fractal for the windings which surround it. The novelty of this invention lies not only with the shaping, but the advantage of such shaping, which includes producing a smaller form factor electromagnet for the same desired magnetic field strength, when compared to a conventional electromagnet. It will be appreciated that a range of devices including electromagnets, based on such fractal shaping, are additionally novel and include but are not limited to solenoid switches, relays, and other devices in which the fractal electromagnets are used to make a change in state of some device.
System and method for cryogenic cooling of electromagnetic induction filter
Provided is a cooling device, and methods of fabricating and operating such cooling devices, for electromagnetic induction (EMI) filters. Specifically, a cooling device is provided which comprises a housing enclosing the electromagnetic induction filter. The housing may comprise one or more of the following: one or more exterior chambers, one or more central flow channels, and peripheral flow channels. The one or more exterior chambers surround an exterior surface of the EMI filter. The one or more central flow channels extend the length of the center of the EMIR filter. The peripheral flow channels extend the length of the exterior of the electromagnetic induction filter. The peripheral flow channels may be disposed between one or more exterior chambers and open into the one or more exterior chambers. The one or more central flow channels, the peripheral flow channels, and the one or more exterior chambers are interconnected.
Method of Estimating Overheating Temperature of Oil-Immersed Electric Appliance
The present invention is directed to a method of estimating an overheating temperature of an oil-immersed electric appliance in which ester oil is used as insulating oil. The overheating temperature is estimated based on a first concentration ratio representing a concentration ratio between two types of gas components contained in the ester oil and a second concentration ratio representing a concentration ratio between other two types of gas components contained in the ester oil. The first concentration ratio and the second concentration ratio are selected from a concentration ratio between acetylene and ethane, a concentration ratio between acetylene and hydrogen, a concentration ratio between acetylene and methane, and a concentration ratio between acetylene and ethylene.
Microbial oils with lowered pour points, dielectric fluids produced therefrom, and related methods
Methods and compositions for the production of dielectric fluids from lipids produced by microorganisms are provided, including oil-bearing microorganisms and methods of low cost cultivation of such microorganisms. Microalgal cells containing exogenous genes encoding, for example, a sucrose transporter, a sucrose invertase, a fructokinase, a polysaccharide-degrading enzyme, a lipid pathway modification enzyme, a fatty acyl-ACP thioesterase, a desaturase, a fatty acyl-CoA/aldehyde reductase, and/or an acyl carrier protein are useful in manufacturing dielectric fluids.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COOLING TOROIDAL MAGNETICS
An inductor housing for housing an inductor having a core and a winding includes an outer annular wall and a third wall extending inward from the outer annular wall such that the outer annular wall and the third wall at least partially define an annular cavity configured to receive the inductor. The inductor housing further includes an attachment feature configured to couple the inductor housing to a secondary housing. The inductor is configured to be enclosed within the annular cavity and the secondary housing, and coolant from a coolant supply is configured to flow past the annular cavity and contact the winding of the inductor.
Ferrofluidic cooling and acoustical noise reduction in magnetic stimulators

The housing may be disposed around the component so as to insulate a noise-producing region of the component. The magnetic field may be of sufficient strength to stimulate anatomical tissue. In addition, a ferrofluid may be disposed within the housing for cooling the component.
TRANSFORMER INSTALLATION
A transformer installation including at least one non-liquid immersed transformer having a magnetic core including at least two core legs each having a winding axis. The transformer further includes at least two coil windings wound around at least one of the core legs of the magnetic core about the winding axis. The transformer installation further includes at least one coil cooling tube defining a coil cooling channel for guiding a dielectric cooling fluid. The at least one cooling tube is wound about at least one of the at least two coil windings. The transformer installation further includes at least one core cooling channel arranged within the core. The core cooling channel is configured to guide a dielectric cooling fluid through the core.
