A low-profile high minimum creepage housing for electronic components such as transformers is provided. The housing can include a body and a lid. The lid can have attachment members that secure the lid to the body, after an electronic component is installed into the body. The attachment members of the lid may also secure a wire routed along the outside of the body against the body. The lid may include protruding portions that extend into the body, thereby elongating a minimum creepage path.

Filter inductor for heavy-current application

A filter inductor for high-current applications. The filter inductor includes a magnetic core and a winding. The winding includes a shaped section having opposing ends, a pair of arm sections laterally extending from the opposing ends of the shaped section, respectively, and a pair of inductor pins, each extending perpendicular from an end of a respective arm section. The magnetic core includes a first core portion and a second core portion. The first core portion includes a recessed channel configured to receive the shaped section of the winding. The second core portion includes a pair of recessed regions configured to receive the pair of arm sections of the winding, respectively. The first core portion and the second core portion are coupled in contact to one another to secure the shaped section of the winding within the magnetic core. The filter inductor can be edge-mounted to a printed circuit board.

Coil body

A coil body with a hollow housing body is provided that has on a first side an opening for the intake of a coil into the housing body along an inserting direction and a housing wall that extends between the first side of the housing body and a second side that is located opposite. The coil body further comprises multiple electric contacts and a plurality of guiding grooves that are disposed along the housing wall and that are each formed for guiding of a connection wire in order to connect a coil, which has been absorbed by the housing body, to the contacts. The contacts are thereby disposed on the second side on the housing body.

An improvement in coil characteristics is achieved by performing accurate positioning of a magnetic core. A coil component 2 includes a wiring substrate 3, a magnetic core 4 that has a ring-like shape and that is disposed on a bottom surface of the wiring board 3, and a coil electrode 5 that is wound around the magnetic core 4, and the coil electrode 5 includes a plurality of inner metallic pins 11a and outer metallic pins 11b that are vertically arranged around the magnetic core 4. First end portions of the plurality of inner and outer metallic pins 11a and 11b are each connected, with solder, to an end surface of a corresponding one of a plurality of via conductors 9a, the end surface being exposed at the bottom surface of the wiring board 3.

Common-mode choke with integrated RF inductor winding

A combination of a common-mode choke and two integrated RF inductors includes first and second E-core. At least one E-core includes first and second protrusions extending from a body portion. Each protrusion is configured to accommodate a respective winding. In a first embodiment, each protrusion extends from the body portion at an angle perpendicular to legs extending from the body portion. In a second embodiment, each protrusion extends from the body portion in an opposite direction from the legs extending from the body portion, and each protrusion includes a respective channel to receive a respective winding. In a third embodiment, each protrusion extends from the body portion in an opposite direction from the legs extending from the body portion, and each protrusion is sized and shaped to extend into a respective opening in a printed circuit board. Each opening is surrounded by a respective printed circuit winding.

COMPLIANT PIN STRUCTURE FOR DISCRETE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS

A discrete electrical component is disclosed, including a component member having at least one lead; and a base member on which the component member is supported. The electrical component further includes at least one compliant pin member, each compliant pin member having a first end portion configured for press-fit engagement in a printed circuit board and a second end portion electrically connected to the at least one lead of the component member. The at least one compliant pin at least partly extends through or into the base member.
