ELECTRONIC COMPONENT AND METHODS RELATING TO SAME

An electronic component, such as, for example, a transformer, includes a core, a first wire, and a second wire. The first wire is wound at least in part about at least a portion of the core in a first winding. The second wire is wound at least in part about at least a portion of the core in a second winding such that the first winding and the second winding alternate at least in part along at least a portion of the core. The electronic component includes windings that are intertwined about the core to form an intertwined spiral winding. Such a configuration can both improve electrical characteristics of the electronic component while reducing a height of the electronic component. Further, methods of manufacturing such components and customizing same are disclosed.

COIL COMPONENT

A coil component includes: a body including a coil unit disposed therein, and having first and second surfaces opposing each other with lead-out portions of the coil unit extending thereto, respectively, and fifth and sixth surfaces connected to the first and second surfaces and opposing each other; a first external electrode, and including a first connection portion covering the first surface of the body and a first pad portion covering the sixth surface of the body, the first pad portion having a smaller width than the first connection portion; a second external electrode, and including a second connection portion covering the second surface of the body and a second pad portion covering the sixth surface of the body, the second pad portion having a smaller width than the second connection portion; and an insulating layer covering the first and second connection portions.

COIL COMPONENT

According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a coil component includes: a body having a first surface and a second surface opposing each other in a first direction, and a plurality of side surfaces connecting the first surface and the second surface to each other; a substrate disposed in the body; at least one insulating pattern disposed on at least one corner where two of the plurality of side surfaces of the body are in contact with each other and exposed to the two side surfaces of the body; a coil unit including a coil pattern disposed on at least one surface of the substrate with a plurality of turns, and lead-out portions respectively exposed to opposing ones of the plurality of side surfaces of the body; and external electrodes disposed on the body and connected to the lead-out portions, respectively.

Coil component

A coil component is provided. The coil component includes a body having one surface and the other surface, opposing each other, and a wall surface connecting the one surface and the other surface, a coil portion embedded in the body and having an end exposed to the wall surface of the body, an external electrode including a connecting portion disposed on the wall surface of the body and connected to the end of the coil portion, and an extension extending from the connecting portion onto the one surface of the body, a first insulating layer covering the other surface of the body, and an identification portion passing through the first insulating layer and including the same material as a material of the external electrode.

Coil component

A coil component includes a body having one surface and the other surface opposing each other, and one side surface and the other side surface, respectively connecting the one surface and the other surface to each other and opposing each other in one direction, a wound coil embedded in the body, a lead portion extending from an end of the wound coil to one surface of the body and disposed on the one surface of the body, an insulating layer covering one surface of the body and having an opening exposing a portion of the lead portion and extending in the one direction, and an external electrode disposed in the opening and connected to the lead portion. The insulating layer includes finishing portions respectively disposed on opposing sides of the opening in the one direction.

Coil component

In a coil component, an uneven structure provided by an insulation layer and a resin wall contributes to extension of a contact area with respect to a magnetic body, so that an adhesive force with respect to the magnetic body is improved. In addition, the magnetic body protrudes downward toward an exposed region of the resin wall corresponding to a recessed portion in the uneven structure, a volume thereof is increased, and coil characteristics such as an inductance value are improved.

The IC structure may include a first metal layer on a substrate, and a second metal layer on the substrate that is horizontally separated from the first metal layer. A dielectric material may include a first portion on the first metal layer, and having a first upper surface, a second portion on the second metal layer, and having a second upper surface, and a third portion on the substrate between the first metal layer and the second metal layer. The third portion of the dielectric material includes a third upper surface above the first upper surface of the first portion and the second upper surface of the second portion of the dielectric material.

A spacer tape is provided for spacing apart turns of a winding, which comprises a tape having an upper surface, a lower surface and a longitudinal axis, wherein the lower surface is adhesable and configured to be adhered to a conductor forming a turn of the winding, and spacers with an upper surface and a lower surface arranged on the tape, wherein the lower surface of the spacers is adhered to the upper surface of the tape, and wherein the upper surface of the spacers are adhesable and configured to be adhered to the conductor forming an adjacent turn of the winding.

A coil component may include a body having a support member including a through hole, a coil disposed on at least one of an upper surface and a lower surface of the support member, and a magnetic material encapsulating the coil and the support member, and filling the through hole. The coil includes a coil pattern. The coil component further includes an external electrode connected to the coil. At least one of the upper surface and the lower surface of the support member includes a groove, having a shape corresponding to a shape of the coil pattern, and at least a portion of the coil pattern is embedded in the groove.

A sintered material contains Fe in an amount of from 8 mol % to 37 mol % in terms of Fe.sub.2O.sub.3, Zn in an amount of from 30 mol % to 60 mol % in terms of ZnO, Cu in an amount of from 1 mol % to 7 mol % in terms of CuO, Ni in an amount of from 3 mol % to 17 mol % in terms of NiO, and Si in an amount of from 7 mol % to 28 mol % in terms of SiO.sub.2.
