A helmet and shoulder pad assembly for protecting a user from a concussion injury includes a pair of shoulder pads that is wearable on a user's shoulders during athletic activity. A helmet is hingedly coupled to the shoulder pads and the helmet is positionable in a closed position to cover the user's head. The helmet is coupled to the shoulder pads when the helmet is positioned in the closed position thereby facilitating the helmet to transfer impact energy into the shoulder pads. In this way the helmet inhibits the user from suffering a concussion injury. The helmet is positionable in an open position to expose the user's head.

The present invention concerns a hit detection equipment, usable by a fighter and an opponent for martial arts such as taekwondo, karate or boxing, comprising a central device, a valid surface, for example a jersey and/or a helmet, and at least one authorized surface, for example a glove and/or a shoe. Said valid surface comprises at least one conductive surface and said authorized surface comprises two conductive structures insulated from each other, intertwined with each other over the entire said authorized surface, and each connected to an electrical terminal, and configured so that a contact of said authorized surface on a conductive surface creates a short circuit between the two conductive structures. The present invention also concerns a method for detecting a hit struck by a fighter on an opponent, for martial arts such as taekwondo, karate or boxing, each equipped with an equipment according to the invention.

A sports signaling system comprises a manager unit and a player unit. The manager unit comprises an input device, a wireless transmitter, and a processor. The player unit comprises a wireless receiver, an output device, and a processor. The player unit is embedded in a chest protector worn by a catcher of a baseball game or a softball game. The chest protector comprises a shield protecting the player unit. The shield is made of a polycarbonate material. In one example, an entirety of the player unit is between an inner layer of the chest protector and an outer layer of the chest protector. The player unit does not contact the catcher.

The present disclosure includes a coil protection assembly configured to be incorporated into a piece of sports equipment such as a glove, shin guard, or shoulder pad. The coil protection assembly may include a coil element spiraled to form a plurality of loops. The coil protection assembly may also have a foam layer disposed on the interior surface of the coil element. An outer layer may enclose or encase the coil element and the foam layer with the loops free to move with respect to one another, A strip of liner material may be secured to the outer layer to connect the loop together. The liner material may be an elastic material to allow the loops to move away from each other, yet still retract back to a default position.

A chest protector may include shoulder portions to extend over shoulders of a sport participant wearing the chest protector, a padded chest portion to extend over the chest of a sport participant wearing the chest protector, a padded torso portion and a pliable shaper extending across the padded torso portion.

A bespoke protective sports equipment to be worn by a player engaged in a sporting activity is provided. The bespoke sports equipment system includes methods for acquiring, storing and processing a player's unique data, namely the anatomical features of the body part against which the bespoke equipment is worn. The systems also includes methods of using the player's unique data to manufacture the bespoke protective equipment with a custom formed internal padding assembly that substantially corresponds to the player's unique data. The system and method allows for the design and manufacture of bespoke protective sports equipment that is purposely designed and manufactured to match the anatomical specifications of the player's body part.

A body impact protection system includes an inner layer and an impact force dampening and defusing structure. The inner layer includes a material composition and is adjacent to a body part when the body impact protection system is worn. The impact force dampening and defusing structure is juxtaposed to the inner layer and includes a plurality of components. The components function to reduce pressure on the body part from an impact force on a layer by layer basis. Each layer of the system dampens and defuses the impact force such that, by the time it reaches the body part, it has been substantially attenuated and spread over a large area.

A baseball catcher's chest protector includes a base member, a cover member, and a cushioning member. The cover member is attached to the base member. The cushioning member is attached to the base member and is sandwiched between the base member and the cover member. The cushioning member includes a foundation and a plurality of protrusions. The plurality of protrusions protrude from the foundation. The foundation has a first surface and a second surface. The first surface faces the base member. The second surface is arranged opposite to the base member with respect to the first surface and faces the cover member. Each of the plurality of protrusions protrudes from the second surface toward the cover member and the plurality of protrusions are arranged with a space being interposed between the plurality of protrusions.

A protective garment comprising multi-layered composite structures is conformable to the contours of the body parts for which protection is required. The composite structure contains rigid impact-deflecting outer structures, impact-dissipating gel middle layers, and impact-damping microlattice lower layers. In one embodiment, the structure is designed for impacts associated with contact sports, such as football, hockey and lacrosse. In another embodiment, the structure is designed for military/police applications, in which impacts can be blunt forces, from weapons such as clubs, or penetrative forces, from knives, bullets or shrapnel.
