Light emitting clothing is disclosed. The light illuminating clothing has a plurality of light-emitting straps and a plurality of non-light-emitting straps. The straps are secured to metal rings to hold the straps in a desired configuration. The light-emitting straps have two light tubes disposed in parallel orientation with a space between the light tubes. LEDs are disposed at the ends of the light tubes and a control pack having batteries and a microprocessor is disposed at an end of the strap. The light emitting clothing may be in the shape of a harness to fit over top of standard clothing or may itself be embedded articles of clothing.

An athletic garment for protecting genitals of a user includes shorts having a pair of leg receiving portions and a flap defining a pocket centered in a groin region. The pocket extends in front of a portion of each of the leg receiving portions. A protective shield is disposed within the pocket and includes an arch portion and left and right wings extending laterally outward from opposing sides of the arch portion. The spool may receive a signal regarding the impending impact from a sensor that is a part of the article of apparel, or a sensor that is separate from it.

The apparatus includes a plurality of support members which may position the protective cup in a preferred position relative to a user's body, and secure the protective cup in the preferred position. The plurality of support members may connect to the protective cup or a protective support configured to receive the protective cup.
