Locking apparatus for a circuit breaker
A locking apparatus for a circuit breaker includes a locking pin including a main body; a rotatably or displaceably mounted definition tip; and a guide including a mating contour. In an embodiment, the locking pin is movably mounted within the guide. The definition tip is in alignment with the locking pin in a first position, such that the locking pin together, with the definition tip, is movable through the guide. Further, the definition tip cannot be moved through the guide in a second position, owing to the deflection of the rotatably and displaceably mounted definition tip of the locking pin.
Method of controlling an appliance door position switch for Sabbath mode operation
A position switch retention device for use with an appliance including a body defining a switch-receiving cavity open on at least a first end of the body, a cap extending outwardly from a second end of the body opposite the first end, and a first tab extending from a side of the body. The first tab defines a ramp extending away from the body to an edge directed toward and spaced from the cap.

Lockout disabling mechanism
A surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument has a handle assembly. The handle assembly has a trigger operatively coupled to a firing plate, an energy button configured to deliver energy to at least one electrode, a lockout element operatively coupled to the energy button, the lockout element configured to prevent operation of the firing plate, and a lockout disabling mechanism configured to disable the lockout element, the lockout disabling mechanism operable between a first position and a second position. When the lockout disabling mechanism is located in the first position, the lockout element is enabled and can be unlocked by the energy button, and wherein when the lockout disabling mechanism is in the second position, the lockout element is disabled.
Protective guard for a wall-mounted electrical interface and method for using the same
A protective guard prevents undesired access to a wall-mounted electrical interface such as an electrical switch or outlet, particularly by small children. The protective guard includes a baseplate, cover and spring-biased latch. The baseplate is mounted to the wall and contains at least one opening to expose the electrical interface. The cover slidably attaches to the baseplate for sliding movement between a closed position that blocks access to the electrical interface and an open position that exposes the electrical interface. The spring-biased latch is attached to the cover. The latch is actively spring-biased to a locked position that holds the cover in the closed position and has an unlocked position offset from the locked position which allows sliding movement of the cover to its open position to expose the electrical interface. Advantageously, exposing the electrical interface requires no additional parts or tools that should be procured, removed, stored, or could be misplaced. The required actions to expose the electrical interface are difficult to achieve by a small child while an adult has the required strength, motor skills, and cognitive abilities to easily and intuitively accomplish the necessary actions with a one-handed operation.

An example embodiment includes: support posts having a top end and a bottom end; base elements coupled to the bottom end of the support posts, an attachment mechanism being coupled to the base elements; a grip element coupled to the top end of the support posts; and a plurality of switch depression surfaces formed between the support posts, each of the plurality of switch depression surfaces being configured to engage and activate a particular type of safety interlock door switch.
"SAVUS" A simple, low cost emergency home power connection
There is a need in homes and small businesses for simple devices to help residents in emergency situations. Extended power outages are an example. SAVUS is a simple, safe, low cost device to connect emergency power to an entire home. Current emergency power solutions are costly and usually require complex installation. SAVUS has models which install into most residential type circuit breaker front panels and require only one available circuit breaker space for installation. SAVUS mechanically interlocks with the main circuit breaker and will not allow connection of an external power source to the circuit breaker box until utility power is turned off for safety. Because it is on the house side of the main circuit breaker and completely enclosed with other circuit breakers, utility approval is not normally required. We believe SAVUS may become nearly as common in homes as smoke detectors.
Circuit breaker lockout system with tie-receiving channels
A lockout system for preventing a push-pull circuit breaker from being depressed while personnel work on de-energized electrical equipment. The lockout system includes an attachment member having a generally C-shaped collar defining a cylindrical recess integrated with a retainer member. The C-shaped collar is configured to resiliently expand in order to be positioned over and receive a cylindrical portion of an extended circuit breaker knob such that engagement of the circuit breaker is prevented. The retainer member includes a first channel member and a second channel member, each with a channel connected by a crossover channel that forms a continuous channel configured to receive a wire cable. Once inserted, the wire cable is firmly held in place by a locking chamber attached at each end of the wire cable, and thereafter, the lockout device can only be removed by a cutting the wire cable with a wire cutting tool.
