High voltage compact fused disconnect switch device with bi-directional magnetic arc deflection assembly
A fused disconnect switch device includes a housing defining an interior volume, and a current path. An arc interruption assembly is located in the interior volume and includes a shell, and a conductor in electrical communication with the current path. At least one arc plate is located between the magnets and the conductor. The magnets cooperate to generate a magnetic field facilitating an interruption of a first arc between the conductor and the first side of the arc chamber and a second arc between the conductor and the second side of the arc chamber.
CONTACTOR WITH ARC SUPPRESSOR
A contactor includes an housing having a cavity, fixed contacts received in the cavity having mating ends in the cavity, a movable contact movable within the cavity between a mated position and an unmated position and engaging the fixed contacts to electrically connect the fixed contacts in the mated position, and a coil assembly in the cavity operated to move the movable contact between the unmated position and the mating position. The contactor includes an arc suppressor in the cavity. The arc suppressor includes a multi-pole magnet having a first magnet having a first pole and a second magnet having a second pole. The first magnet is integrated with the second magnet in a unitary magnet body.
SWITCH DEVICE WITH IMPROVED PERMANENT MAGNETIC ARC EXTINCTION
Disclosed is a switch device with at least one contact point and a permanent magnetic arc blowing device which is paired with the contact point, wherein the arc blowing device has at least one second permanent magnet (15) as an auxiliary magnet, and the auxiliary magnet is arranged in the direct vicinity of the contact point (7.1), such that at least one section of the magnetic field (17) of the auxiliary magnet (15) amplifies the blow-out field in the transition region.
ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY
An electromagnetic relay includes a fixed contact holder, a moving contact holder, an electromagnetic device, and a magnet. The fixed contact holder extends in a predetermined direction and is provided with a fixed contact. The moving contact holder also extends in the predetermined direction, and is provided with a moving contact. The magnet is arranged perpendicularly to an opening/closing direction of the fixed contact and the moving contact. A stretch space in which an arc generated between the fixed contact and the moving contact is stretched is provided, in the predetermined direction, beyond respective tips of the fixed contact holder and the moving contact holder. The stretch space also faces a surface of the fixed contact holder and a surface of the moving contact holder.
High-Voltage Arc Quenching Systems and Electrical Switching Devices Comprising the Same
An arc quenching system includes an arc-extinguishing unit and an arc-blowing magnetic unit. The arc-extinguishing unit extinguishing an arc discharge produced upon a switching operation of a contact pair from a closed state to an open state. The contact pair having a static contact and a movable contact which is movable relative to the static contact between the closed state and the open state in which the movable contact is spaced apart from the static contact by a gap. The arc-blowing magnetic unit creates a magnetic field having a plurality of magnetic field lines that cross a gap region of the contact pair along a predetermined magnetic field direction. The arc-blowing magnetic unit creates the magnetic field lines with an orientation based on an electrical polarity of the static contact and a positioning of the arc-extinguishing unit to magnetically blow the arc discharge toward the arc-extinguishing unit.
Passive triggering mechanisms for use with switching devices incorporating pyrotechnic features
Disclosed herein are passive triggering mechanisms for activation of pyrotechnic features within electrical switching devices, such as contactor devices and fuse devices. The activation of the pyrotechnic features is configured to change the configuration of the internal components of the switching device and prevent current flow through the device. In some embodiments, the triggering mechanisms comprise features that respond to a magnetic field, such as a reed switch. In some embodiments, threshold strength of a magnetic field needed to trigger the passive triggering mechanism, which corresponds to a threshold level of current running through the switching devices indicating a dangerous overcurrent, can be adjusted based upon the distance between the passive triggering mechanism and a portion of the device such as a power terminal or feature connected to a power terminal.
