Systems and methods for restraining a movable switch blade of a disconnect switch
A restraint system is used to restrain a movable switch blade of a disconnect switch in order to prevent accidental closure of the switch blade. In this regard, the restraint system has a sheath that is positioned over an end of the switch blade, and the sheath is tethered to a support structure so that tension in the tether resists movement of the switch blade toward a conductive jaw. Thus, current is prevented from flowing through the disconnect switch until the sheath is manually removed from the switch blade.
SIDE BREAK AIR SWITCH WITH ANTI-ROLLING BLADE LOCK
An electrical switch including a jaw assembly, a housing and a blade assembly. The jaw assembly is electrically connected to a first electrical conductor. The housing assembly is electrically connected to a second electrical conductor. The blade assembly is fixedly attached to said housing assembly at a first end thereof and having an electrically conductive blade contact fixedly attached to a second end distal from said first end. The housing assembly and said blade assembly pivot about a first axis to drive said blade contact into said jaw assembly to close said switch. The blade assembly is operable to rotate about a second axis perpendicular to said first axis only when said distal end of said blade assembly is seated in said jaw assembly.
AIR BREAK ELECTRICAL SWITCH HAVING A BLADE TOGGLE MECHANISM
An electrical switch includes a pivotally supported blade, a toggle mechanism, and an operating mechanism. The operating mechanism is drivable in a first direction to pivot the blade about a first axis and toward a closed blade position. When pivoting toward the closed blade position, the toggle mechanism inhibits the blade from pivoting about a second axis. Upon reaching the closed blade position, continued motion of the operating mechanism in the first direction causes the toggle mechanism to pivot the blade about the second axis toward a closed contact position. In the closed contact position, the blade contacts at least one blade contact to electrically connect the blade and a first electrical terminal.
Side break air switch with anti-rolling blade lock
A high voltage, high current, switching device includes a jaw assembly electrically connected to a first electrical conductor, a housing assembly electrically connected to a second electrical conductor and a blade assembly fixedly attached to the housing assembly at a first end thereof. The blade assembly has an electrically conductive blade contact fixedly attached to a second end distal from the first end. Further, the housing assembly and the blade assembly pivot about a first axis to drive the blade contact into the jaw assembly to close the switch and the blade assembly is operable to rotate about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis only when the distal end of the blade assembly is seated in the jaw assembly. Thus, the blade does not pivot about its longitudinal axis prematurely, for example, before it is properly seated in the electrical terminal.
Non-fusible switch assemblies, line base assemblies, load bus connector assemblies, and operational methods
A non-fusible switch assembly including a line base assembly is disclosed. Line base assembly includes a load bus connector assembly with single-piece lug body, first and second load lugs formed in the lug body, and load-side sliding nuts slidably received in first and second load-side slide features, and load-side stationary contacts positioned directly underneath of the first and second load lugs within a projected footprint of the lug body. Line base assemblies, load lug connector assemblies and methods of operating a line base assembly are provided, as are other aspects.
Side break air switch with anti-rolling blade lock
A blade assembly for an electrical switch. The blade assembly including a rocker assembly configured to enable rotation of said blade assembly. The rocker assembly including: a first rocker component, said first rocker component having a first rocker pin, and a second rocker component, said second rocker component having a second rocker pin that depresses when said first rocker pin is depressed.
MOTORIZED HIGH VOLTAGE IN-LINE DISCONNECT SWITCH WITH CORONA PREVENTING INTERNAL COOLING FINS
A high voltage motorized in-line air break disconnect switch having a rotating switch blade with two parallel elongated rectangular metal conductors having rounded top and bottom edges include a gap between the conductors. Heat conducting cooling fin units are attached to an inner side of at least one of the conductors and are positioned entirely within the gap. No part of each cooling fin unit extends above the rounded top edge or below the rounded bottom edge of a conductor to which it is attached. Corona electrical stress between the heat conducting cooling fins and a ground plane is prevented. The two conductors act as electric shields to prevent corona even with the inclusion of the cooling fin units positioned within the gap between the two conductors, permitting a reduction in the size and weight of the conductors compared to conductors without the cooling fin units.
SIDE BREAK AIR SWITCH WITH ANTI-ROLLING BLADE LOCK
An air break switch including a first insulator and a second insulator opposite the first insulator. The second insulator including a blade, wherein the blade is configured to rotate about a first axis parallel to the second insulator and about a second axis perpendicular to the second insulator.
