Relay

A relay includes a first fixed contact, a second fixed contact, a movable contact piece having first and second movable contacts, a contact piece holding unit configured to hold the movable contact piece, and first to fourth magnets. The first magnet and the second magnet are disposed so that same poles thereof face each other. The movable contact piece is disposed between the first magnet and the second magnet in a width direction of the movable contact piece. The third magnet is disposed so as to increase a magnetic flux in a longitudinal direction of the movable contact piece at a position between the first fixed contact and the first movable contact. The fourth magnet is disposed so as to increase a magnetic flux in the longitudinal direction of the movable contact piece at a position between the second fixed contact and the second movable contact.

An arc path formation unit and a direct current relay comprising same are disclosed. An arc path formation unit according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a plurality of magnet parts. The plurality of magnet parts can form a magnetic field in a space inside an arc chamber to form an electromagnetic force for moving generated arc. The magnetic field formed by each magnet part forms an electromagnetic force toward the outside of the arc chamber. Electromagnetic forces formed adjacently to fixed contacts are formed in opposite directions. Therefore, the generated arc can be quickly moved to the outside and extinguished without damage to each constituent element of a direct current relay caused by the generated arc.

A housing includes a first space, a second space, a first hole, a second hole, and an arc extinguishing member. A fixed contact and a movable contact are arranged in the first space. The second space is partitioned from the first space. The first hole communicates the first space and the second space. The second hole communicates the second space with a space outside the second space. The arc extinguishing member releases an arc extinguishing gas into the first space. The second hole has a smaller opening area than the first hole.

An electromagnetic relay includes a fixed terminal, a movable contact piece, a first contact, a second contact, a movable mechanism, and a magnet unit. The first contact is disposed on one of the fixed terminal or the movable contact piece. The second contact is disposed on another of the fixed terminal or the movable contact piece. The magnet unit generates a magnetic field to apply a Lorentz force to an arc generated between the first contact and the second contact. The magnet unit applies the Lorentz force in a first direction to the arc when a current flowing through the arc is directed from the second contact toward the first contact. In a state in which the first contact is in contact with the second contact, a center position of the first contact and a center position of the second contact are shifted from each other in the first direction.
