High power, multi-phase, AC power contact arc suppressor
An arc suppressing circuit configured to suppress arcing across a power contactor coupled to an alternating current (AC) power source having a predetermined number of phases, each contact of the power contactor corresponding to one of the predetermined number of phases includes a number of dual unidirectional arc suppressors equal to the predetermined number of phases of the AC power source. Each dual unidirectional arc suppressor includes a first phase-specific arc suppressor configured to suppress arcing across the associated contacts in a positive domain, a a second phase-specific arc suppressor configured to suppress arcing across the associated contacts in a negative domain, and a coil lock controller, configured to be coupled between a contact coil driver of the power contactor, configured to detect an output condition from the contact coil driver and inhibit operation of the first and second phase-specific arc suppressors over a predetermined time.
Devices and methods for programming a fuse
Fuse programming circuits, devices and methods. In some embodiments, a fuse circuit can include a fuse pad configured to receive a voltage, a fuse having a first end coupled to the fuse pad and a second end coupled to a switching element configured to enable a current to pass from the fuse pad to a ground potential.
High speed arc suppressor
A high speed arc suppressor and method include a first phase-specific arc suppressor configured to suppress arcing across contacts of the power contactor in a positive domain and a second phase-specific arc suppressor configured to suppress arcing across the contacts in a negative domain. First and second high speed switches are configured to enable and disable operation of an associated one of the first and second phase-specific arc suppressors. First and second drivers are configured to drive the first and second high speed switches.
Smart Battery Disconnect and Protection Architecture for Airborne High-Power Modular Multi-String Battery Pack
Methods and systems for protection/disconnect of airborne high-power/energy high-voltage modular multi-string battery packs (such as battery packs for airborne electric propulsion systems). The methods and systems are based on a dissimilar/redundant distributed battery pack protection architecture and use a smart mid-point battery disconnect in conjunction with centralized battery management system. The resulting battery disconnect/protection system is configured to detect bus faults, load faults and string faults and then take appropriate action to isolate the detected fault. For example, in response to a short circuit in one battery string, the faulty battery string may be disconnected from the positive and negative busbars while the remaining battery strings continue to provide power.
Fusible link, circuit arrangement and motor vehicle comprising said circuit arrangement
Melting fuse with a melting wire arranged between a first and a second terminal, characterized in that a connecting pin is arranged on each of the first and second terminals, a printed circuit board is placed on the connection pin, and at least one integrated circuit is arranged on the printed circuit board on the side facing away from the melting wire.
CIRCUIT PROTECTOR ARC FLASH REDUCTION SYSTEM WITH PARALLEL CONNECTED SEMICONDUCOR SWITCH
An arc flash mitigation system includes a main circuit protector such as a high amperage overcurrent protection fuse, and an arc flash mitigation network connected in parallel to the main circuit protector. The arc flash mitigation network includes at least one semiconductor switch operable to provide a shunt current path to a low amperage arc mitigation fuse for a faster response time to certain circuit conditions than the main circuit protector otherwise provides. The semiconductor switch may be a silicon controller rectifier operatively responsive to a voltage drop across the main circuit protector in use.
DC circuit breaker
A DC circuit breaker includes a fuse unit to interrupt a large current with a fuse, and the fuse unit includes a high-speed disconnector that is connected in parallel to the fuse and is opened when a fault current is detected.
SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE
Provided is a semiconductor device capable of detecting an abnormal state in which two fuses are both short-circuited or cut. The semiconductor device includes: a trimming circuit having a first fuse and a second fuse connected in series; a current source circuit configured to supply current to the trimming circuit; and a determination circuit configured to determine whether a connection state or disconnect state of the first fuse and the second fuse are abnormal or not based upon signals derived from an output signal of the trimming circuit.
METHOD FOR FABRICATING SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE WITH FUSE STRUCTURE
A method for fabricating a semiconductor device is provided. The method includes providing a substrate; forming a fuse element within the substrate and extending from an upper surface of the substrate; and forming a fuse medium in contact with the fuse element, wherein the fuse medium is spaced apart from the upper surface of the substrate.
