HIGH VOLTAGE COMPACT FUSED DISCONNECT SWITCH DEVICE WITH BI-DIRECTIONAL MAGNETIC ARC DEFLECTION ASSEMBLY

A fused disconnect switch device includes a housing defining an interior volume, and a current path. An arc interruption assembly is located in the interior volume and includes a shell, and a conductor in electrical communication with the current path. At least one arc plate is located between the magnets and the conductor. The magnets cooperate to generate a magnetic field facilitating an interruption of a first arc between the conductor and the first side of the arc chamber and a second arc between the conductor and the second side of the arc chamber.

A compact fusible disconnect switch device includes a magnetic arc deflection assembly including pairs of magnets disposed about a mechanical switch contact assembly. The magnetic arc deflection assembly facilitates reliable connection and disconnection of DC circuitry operating at a voltage well above 125 VDC with reduced arcing intensity and duration. The pairs of magnets may apply magnetic fields in directions opposing one another to deflect electrical arcs in different directions at different locations in the mechanical switch contact assembly to facilitate high voltage DC switching operation.

High voltage compact fuse assembly with magnetic arc deflection

Fuse assemblies in the form of fuse blocks and fuse holders include embedded permanent magnet arc suppression features that facilitate higher voltage operation of fusible circuit protection without increasing the size of the fuse assemblies. The embedded magnets apply an external magnetic field upon an overcurrent protection fuse and produce an arc deflection force to enhance arc quenching capability of the fuse without increasing its form factor.

The invention relates to a safety device (1), comprising: a fusible member (2) having a first segment (3), a second segment (4), and a connecting segment (5), which connects the first segment (3) to the second segment (4). The safety device (1) further comprises a separation element (6), configured to suppress a light arc between the first segment (3) and the second segment (4). The first segment (3) of the fusible member (2) extends along a first side of the separation element (6), the second segment (4) of the fusible member (2) extends along a second side of the separation element (6) located opposite the first side, and the connecting segment (5) of the fusible member (2) extends along a third side of the separation element. It is thus achieved that a light arc between the first segment (3) and the second segment (4) of the fusible member (2) cannot exist even if the spatial distance between the first and the second segment (3, 4) of the fusible member (2) is so minimal that it allows a skipping of a light arc.
