Keycap with active elements
Particular embodiments described herein provide for a keycap. The keycap can include a protective layer and an active element, where the height of protective layer and the active element is less than six (6) millimeters in height. The keycap can also include a front plane layer, a back plane layer, where the front plane layer and the back plane layer comprise the active element, and an electrical connection through the keycap to provide electrical communication with the active element.
Specialized Keyboard Keycaps
This application is directed to keycaps for use in association with key switches that facilitate the creation of custom keyboards. Mechanical keyboards feature key switches having standardized top portions that make it possible to fit a wide variety of different keycaps thereon. Embodiments of the inventive subject matter include specialized, electronic keycaps that introduce different functionalities to improve keyboard customizability. For example, in some embodiments, keycaps can include haptic feedback mechanisms, while in other embodiments keycaps can include a display screen.
KEYCAP WITH AN ACTIVE ELEMENT
Particular embodiments described herein provide a display that includes a mask that includes a one or more exposed areas, a top electrode, one or more bottom electrodes, a dielectric between the top electrode and the one or more bottom electrodes, and an electrical connection to create a differential voltage between the top electrode and the one or more bottom electrodes.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE TO SENSE BIO-SIGNALS
Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device that can be configured to include a plurality of bio-sensing areas, where the bio-sensing areas are located in an area of the electronic device where a user typically comes into contact with the electronic device and a bio-signals engine, where the bio-signals engine can analyze bio signals detected by the bio-sensing areas. These bio-sensing areas can be processed for color, finish and material so as to blend with the electronic device enclosure thereby not degrading the visual appeal.
