Ambient ionization mass spectrometry imaging platform for direct mapping from bulk tissue
A method of ion imaging is disclosed that includes automatically sampling a plurality of different locations on a sample using a front device which is arranged and adapted to generate aerosol, smoke or vapour from the sample. Mass spectral data and/or ion mobility data corresponding to each location is obtained and the obtained mass spectral data and/or ion mobility data is used to construct, train or improved a sample classification model.
Rapid evaporative ionisation mass spectrometry (“REIMS”) and desorption electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (“DESI-MS”) analysis of swabs and biopsy samples
A method is disclosed comprising providing a biological sample on a swab, directing a spray of charged droplets onto a surface of the swab in order to generate a plurality of analyte ions, and analysing the analyte ions.
Systems, devices, and methods for contaminant resistant insulative structures
Embodiments of systems, devices, and methods relate to an electrode standoff isolator. An example electrode standoff isolator includes a plurality of adjacent insulative segments positioned between a proximal end and a distal end of the electrode standoff isolator. A geometry of the adjacent insulative is configured to guard a surface area of the electrode standoff isolator against deposition of a conductive layer of gaseous phase materials from a filament of an ion source.
POSITIONING OF A NEEDLE-LIKE COMPONENT IN A MASS SPECTROMETRY SYSTEM
A packaging for a needle-like component of a mass spectrometry (MS) system is provided. The packaging includes a receptacle configured for storing the needle-like component in a secured position inside the receptacle. The packaging further comprises an actuator configured to move the needle-like component from the secured position inside the receptacle to a mounting position in which the needle-like component projects out of the receptacle for mounting the needle-like component to the MS system.
Tissue Analysis by Mass Spectrometry or Ion Mobility Spectrometry
A method of analysis using mass and/or ion mobility spectrometry or ion mobility spectrometry is disclosed comprising: using a first device to generate aerosol, smoke or vapour from one or more regions of a first target of biological material; and el mass and/or ion mobility analysing and/or ion mobility analysing said aerosol, smoke, or vapour, or ions derived therefrom so as to obtain first spectrometric data. The method may use an ambient ionisation method.
DETECTOR FOR DETECTING CHARGED PARTICLES OR LIGHT
An embodiment of the present disclosure relates to a detector that includes an AD and detects charged particles or light, and enables speeding up of response of the detector without changing a structure of the AD that limits the response of the detector. A drive circuit of the AD includes a first capacitor and a first resistor. Both the first capacitor and the first resistor are connected in series to the AD in a state where both terminals are set to have the same potential. This configuration reduces the apparent capacitance of the AD and speeds up the response of the entire detector including the drive circuit.
ION SOURCE ASSEMBLY WITH MULTIPLE IONIZATION VOLUMES FOR USE IN A MASS SPECTROMETER
An ion source assembly for use in a mass spectrometer comprises a first anode defining a first ionization volume and a first electron source positioned proximate the first anode and configured to generate electrons that pass through the first anode and into the first ionization volume. The ions source assembly further includes a second anode defining a second ionization volume and a second electron source positioned proximate to the second anode and configured to generate to generate electrons that pass through the second anode and into the second ionization volume. At least one optical element is positioned proximate the first ionization volume and defines an aperture. The first and second anodes and the first and second ionization volumes are positioned along an ion optical axis of the mass spectrometer, and the first anode is positioned between the second anode and the aperture.
Collision surface for improved ionisation
An apparatus for performing ambient ionization mass and/or ion mobility spectrometry is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a substantially cylindrical, tubular, rod-shaped, coil-shaped, helical or spiral-shaped collision assembly; and a first device arranged and adapted to direct analyte, smoke, fumes, liquid, gas, surgical smoke, aerosol or vapor onto said collision assembly.
INLET INSTRUMENTATION FOR ION ANALYSER COUPLED TO RAPID EVAPORATIVE IONISATION MASS SPECTROMETRY ("REIMS") DEVICE
An apparatus is disclosed comprising a first device for generating aerosol, smoke or vapour from one or more regions of a target, an inlet conduit to an ion analyser or mass spectrometer, the inlet conduit having an inlet through which the aerosol, smoke or vapour passes, and a Venturi pump arrangement arranged and adapted to direct the aerosol, smoke or vapour towards the inlet.
ION ANALYZER
An ion analyzer includes a reaction chamber into which precursor ions derived from a sample component are introduced, a radical irradiation unit that generates and emits a predetermined type of radicals, a standard substance supply unit that individually supplies kinds of standard substances to the reaction chamber, where activation energy of radical addition reaction is known for each of the kinds of standard substances, and the activation energies are different in magnitude, an ion measurement unit that measures an amount of predetermined product ions generated from precursor ions derived from the standard substance by irradiation with the radicals, and a radical temperature calculation unit that obtains an amount of radicals that caused the radical addition reaction from the amount of the predetermined product ions and obtains a radical temperature based on a relationship between the amount of the radicals obtained for each kind of standard substance and activation energy.
