Disclosed herein an excimer discharge lamp that is capable of mitigating a stress concentration occurring due to a fixing method of an outer electrode, and achieving a desired life of lamp in an ensured manner. The excimer discharge lamp comprises: an arc tube for enclosing a luminous gas inside and having a sealing portion formed contiguous to, via a reduced diameter portion, one end of a tube shaped luminous portion; and an outer electrode of a net-like shape arranged on an outer peripheral surface of the art tube. The one end of the outer electrode being fixed via an outer electrode fixing member provided on an outer surface of the sealing portion.

An excimer lamp includes a housing portion having a sealed internal space, an internal electrode, and a discharge gas with which the internal space is filled. One end side of the internal electrode is electrically connected to a power supply member provided with a metal foil electrically connected to the internal electrode and is sealed together with the power supply member to one end side of the housing portion via a sealing portion. The other end side of the internal electrode protrudes into the internal space. A protrusion length, being a length of the internal electrode in the internal space and a length from one end of the internal space to the other end of the internal electrode, is equal to or less than a length from the other end of the internal electrode to the other end of the internal space in a direction along the axis.

The conductive hollow tube passes through the end cap and into the cavity of the dielectric tube, with a volume defined between an exterior surface of the conductive hollow tube and an interior surface of the dielectric tube. The volume is configured to hold a gas. The electrode grid is disposed on an exterior surface of the dielectric tube.

An excimer lamp includes a first electrode, a dielectric plate, and a second electrode. The dielectric plate has a first side and a second side opposite the first side. An excimer lamp includes a discharge vessel in which a rare gas and a halogen are enclosed. The excimer lamp also includes at least one first electrode and at least one second electrode for generating a dielectric barrier discharge inside the discharge vessel. The discharge vessel has a discharge forming region and a non-discharge region such that discharging takes place in the discharge forming region and no discharging takes place in the non-discharge region. The discharge forming region is formed between the first electrode(s) and the second electrode(s). The non-discharge region communicates with the discharge forming region. The excimer lamp satisfies a following equation:

where Vb [mm.sup.3] represents a space volume inside the discharge vessel, Sd [mm.sup.2] represents an inner surface area of the discharge vessel in the discharge forming region, and Ph [Torr] represents a halogen-atoms partial pressure enclosed in the discharge vessel.

Device for emitting ultraviolet light

A device for emitting ultraviolet light includes at least one excimer lamp and a housing for the excimer lamp(s). Each excimer lamp has a discharge vessel filled with light-emitting gases, and a pair of first and second electrodes that are placed in contact with the discharge vessel and produce a dielectric barrier discharge inside the discharge vessel. The housing is made of an insulating and heat-resistant resin material. The housing is configured to house the excimer lamp(s), and has a light-emitting window that allows light with a center wavelength in a range from 200 nm to 230 nm emitted from the excimer lamp(s) to exit from the housing.

In one aspect, a UV light-emitting module comprises an enclosure including an aluminum rear wall comprising a ventilation opening and a face plate spaced from the rear wall and comprising a light-transmitting aperture. Four aluminum sidewalls extend between the rear wall and the face plate, with at least one sidewall comprising a ventilation opening. At least one aluminum UV light emitter support within the enclosure is electrically coupled to plurality of UV light emitters. A thermally conductive and electrically insulating separator is located between the support and the rear wall. At least one electrical conductor extends through the rear wall and the separator into the support, and an electrically insulating bushing extends between the conductor and surfaces of the rear wall.
