Downhole mud powered battery

A technique facilitates evaluation of a fluid, such as a fluid produced from a well. The technique utilizes a modular and mobile system for testing flows of fluid which may comprise mixtures of constituents, and for sampling fluids thereof. The multiphase sampling method includes flowing a multiphase fluid comprising an oil phase and a water phase through a first conduit, the oil phase and water phase at least partially separating in the first conduit, mixing together the oil phase and water phase to form a mixed bulk liquid phase by flowing the multiphase fluid through a flow mixer toward a second conduit downstream the flow mixer, sampling a portion of the mixed bulk liquid phase at location at or within the second conduit, wherein the sampled portion of the mixed bulk liquid phase has a water-to-liquid ratio (WLR) representative of the pre-mixed oil phase and water phase.

A modular leak detection and notification unit comprised of a self powered leak sensor and a remote relay transmitter. It can accommodate any number of leak sensors, that can be positioned at a plethora of different potential leak sites. It presents a signal upon detection of a leak that can be used to generate local audible alarm, a text alarm message to the all cell phones/smart devices that it is directed to notify, or a signal to a battery powered motorized valve positioner that has its battery connected to a trickle charger. The trickle charger is powered by a turbine generator that is placed inline, or in a parasitic bypass line from the fluid line itself. This signal may be routed to its final destination by a low power Bluetooth signal from the relay transmitter, via RF network from a cell chip in the relay transmitter, by internet network via WiFi or via RF transmission through internet contact with a cell carrier.

Battery thermal management

A system and method for managing thermal energy of a vehicle having a battery and an electric propulsion system are provided. The system monitors a current battery temperature, calculates an actual average battery temperature, and compares the calculated actual average battery temperature to a target lifetime battery temperature. If the actual average battery temperature is greater than the target lifetime battery temperature, and the current battery temperature is greater than the target lifetime battery temperature, the system cools the battery to below the current battery temperature. However, if the actual average battery temperature is less than the target lifetime battery temperature, and the current battery temperature is greater than the target lifetime battery temperature, the system delays cooling the battery. Therefore, the system may avoid expending energy to cool the battery in certain conditions.
