Techniques and mechanisms for enabling the positioning of a communication terminal in or on a vehicle, building or other structure. In an embodiment, the communication terminal includes an electronically steerable antenna which is disposed in a housing. A plurality of support legs, coupled to the housing, are each configured to rotate about a respective first axis, and to further rotate about a respective second axis. For a given support leg, an orientation of the respective second axis varies with rotation of that support leg about the respective first axis. Two such support legs are mechanically coupled to one another with respect to their respective first axis rotations or with respect to their respective second axis rotations. In another embodiment, the communication terminal is operable by a user to selectively enable or disable first axis rotation and/or second axis rotation of a given support leg.

An electronic device includes a base, a connection device, a body, an antenna assembly, and a shield member. The body rotates to a first operating state and a second operating state relative to the base through the connection device. The shield member moves in the base to a shielding state and a non-overlapping state. When the body is in the first operating state, the body is not overlapping with the antenna assembly in a first direction, the shield member is in the non-overlapping state, and the shield member is not overlapping with the antenna assembly in the first direction. When the body is in the second operating state, the body overlaps at least a portion of the antenna assembly in the first direction, the shield member is in the shielding state, and the shield member shields between the antenna assembly and the body.

Multibeam antenna with adjustable pointing

This invention concerns a multibeam antenna with adjustable pointing, comprising a single reflection arrangement and a plurality of radiating sources arranged opposite the reflection arrangement and suited to emit and/or receive radiofrequency (RF) signals, the reflection arrangement defining a centre, a focal plane, and a focal point located on the focal plane. The antenna is characterised in that at least one of the radiating sources (‘mobile source’) is movable substantially independently of the or each other radiating source on a scanning surface to adjust the pointing of the antenna, wherein the scanning surface coincides with the focal plane or is tangential to it at the focal point.

Object sensor including pitch compensation

An illustrative example detector for use on a vehicle includes a radiation emitter having a near field region that is defined at least in part by a wavelength of radiation emitted by the radiation emitter. A radiation steering device includes a plurality of reflectors, an actuator, and a controller. The reflectors are situated to reflect the radiation emitted by the radiation emitter. The reflectors are in the near field region and have at least one characteristic that limits any phase shift of the reflected radiation. The actuator is configured to adjust an orientation of the reflectors. The controller is configured to determine an orientation of the plurality of reflectors relative to the radiation emitter to steer the emitted radiation reflected from the reflectors in a determined direction. The controller is configured to control the actuator to achieve the determined orientation.

Multi-antenna mounting device and multi-antenna assembly

A multi-antenna mounting device includes: a mounting member to which two or more antennas are fixable; and a tilt angle adjusting mechanism including an upper adjusting component and a lower adjusting component spaced apart along a length direction of the mounting member. The upper adjusting component includes a plurality of tilt angle adjusting holes arranged in a row, one end of the upper adjusting component is connectable to the mounting member, and the other end is connectable to a user's support pole with a fastening element extending through one of the tilt angle adjusting holes. When the fastening element extends through different tilt angle adjusting holes, the multi-antenna assembly has different mechanical tilt angles relative to the support pole. The lower adjusting component includes a first section and a second section. The second section has a predetermined length and the first section is pivotable relative to the second section.
