Methods of antenna pointing and antenna assemblies implementing those methods are disclosed. An example method includes providing a user terminal antenna assembly including an antenna and an auto-peak device. The antenna includes a reflector, a subreflector, and a feed, the feed oriented relative to the reflector and the subreflector to produce a beam. The antenna further includes a tilt assembly to tilt the subreflector relative to the reflector and the feed. The method further includes providing a control signal to tilt the subreflector in a plurality of tilt positions to move the beam while measuring corresponding signal strength of a signal communicated via the antenna at each of the plurality of tilt positions. Additionally, the method includes selecting a tilt position from the plurality of tilt positions based on a measured signal strength, and providing the control signal to tilt the subreflector to the selected tilt position.

An antenna mounting assembly of a base station antenna includes: a pole clamp configured to clamp the pole; and a first pivoting arm and a second pivoting arm, a first end portion of the first pivoting arm being pivotally connected to a radome body of the antenna, a second end portion of the second pivoting arm being pivotally connected to the pole clamp, and an opposing second end portion of the first pivoting arm being pivotally connected to an opposing first end portion of the second pivoting arm through a pivoting portion. One of the second end portion of the first pivoting arm and the first end portion of the second pivoting arm is provided with a guide post, and the other is provided with a guide groove.

Further, by applying a structure with enhanced electrical insulation to rolling and slide contact portions of the drive unit and a portion undergoing change in contact pressure, radio performance of the antenna system may be prevented from changing according to steering of the reflector.

Moveable antenna apparatus

The present technique provides an antenna apparatus and a method of operating an antenna apparatus comprising a first antenna array and a second antenna array. Antenna positioning circuitry is used to move the first antenna array relative to the second antenna array about a common axis of rotation to facilitate positioning of the first and second antenna arrays in a chosen deployment configuration between a first limit and a second limit. Antenna array control circuitry is used to coordinate operation of the first antenna array and the second antenna array dependent on the chosen deployment configuration.
