Glass-Mounted Antenna Package for a Motor Vehicle
An antenna assembly configured to be mounted on a glass structure. The antenna assembly comprises a multilayer structure comprising i) a superstrate layer comprising a thin dielectric material; ii) an antenna layer on which the superstrate layer is disposed, the antenna layer comprising an electrically conducting material; and ii) a first substrate layer on which the antenna layer is disposed. The antenna assembly further comprises a housing in which the multilayer structure is disposed. The housing is adapted for attachment to a surface of the glass structure. A dielectric characteristic of the superstrate layer compensates for a dielectric characteristic of the glass structure in order to reduce the variability of the operating frequency of the antenna assembly.
INTERLACED ARRAY ANTENNA
An interlaced array antenna includes first and second groups of antenna units, which are of the same size in the same group and different sizes in different groups. Each antenna unit is polygon-shaped with even-numbered edges, and has feed-in terminal and coupling terminal at two corners. A preceding one and a succeeding one of the antenna units included in the first group are interconnected via a specified one of the antenna units in the second group. An input signal is transmitted through the feed-in terminal and then the coupling terminal of the preceding antenna unit, the feed-in terminal and then the coupling terminal of the specified antenna unit, and the feed-in terminal and then the coupling terminal of the succeeding antenna unit in sequence. Configurations of adjacent two antenna units in the same group are identical once one of them is flipped about the x-axis.
Wideband, low profile, small area, circular polarized UHF antenna
An antenna assembly includes a circularly polarized antenna housing configured to mount to a mounting surface. The antenna assembly also includes a vertical antenna housing having a first end proximate to the circularly polarized antenna housing, as well as a distal end extending normally from the circularly polarized antenna housing.
Smart Device-Based Radar System Detecting Human Vital Signs Using a Compact Circularly-Polarized Antenna
Techniques and apparatuses are described that implement a smart device-based radar system capable of detecting human vital signs using a compact circularly-polarized antenna. A radar system includes at least one compact circularly-polarized antenna with a patch antenna and a quadrature hybrid coupler. The quadrature hybrid coupler is on a separate plane that is above or below the patch antenna. By vertically stacking the patch antenna with the quadrature hybrid coupler, lateral dimensions of the radar system can be reduced relative to other antenna configurations or designs. The quadrature hybrid coupler can also have a ring-shape design to improve isolation and polarization purity of the compact circularly-polarized antenna relative to a rectangular design. The compact circularly-polarized antenna enables a radar system operating at frequencies between approximately 1 gigahertz (GHz) and 24 GHz to be implemented within a variety of small smart devices.
SWITCHABLE TRANSMIT AND RECEIVE PHASED ARRAY ANTENNA WITH HIGH POWER AND COMPACT SIZE
A switchable transmit and receive phased array antenna (“STRPAA”) is disclosed. The STRPAA includes a housing, a plurality of radiating elements, and a plurality of transmit and receive (“T/R”) modules. The STRPAA may also include either a first multilayer printed wiring board (“MLPWB”) configured to produce a first elliptical polarization or a second MLPWB configured to produce a second elliptical polarization within the housing.
Dual antenna structure having circular polarisation characteristics
There is disclosed an antenna device made up of at least first, second and third conductive metal plates arranged in a parallelepiped configuration. The third plate defines a lower plane and the first and second plates together define an upper plane substantially parallel to the lower plane. The first and second plates are separated by a slot in the upper plane, and the second and third plates are connected to each other by a grounding connection. The first plate comprises a first, active antenna arm that is provided with a feed connection, and the second plate comprises a second antenna arm that may be passive or active. The antenna device generates a circularly polarized radiation pattern that is good for personal navigation devices, while being significantly more compact than existing ceramic patch antennas that are typically used in these devices.
CHIP-SCALE RADIO-FREQUENCY LOCALIZATION DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A device comprising: a substrate; a semiconductor die mounted on the substrate; a transmit antenna fabricated on the substrate and configured to transmit radio-frequency (RF) signals at least at a first center frequency; a receive antenna fabricated on the substrate and configured to receive RF signals at least at a second center frequency different than the first center frequency; and circuitry integrated with the semiconductor die and configured to provide RF signals to the transmit antenna and to receive RF signals from the receive antenna.
PATCH ANTENNA HAVING PROGRAMMABLE FREQUENCY AND POLARIZATION
The present invention relates to a patch antenna having programmable frequency and polarization comprising the first metal covering layer, the dielectric layer, the second metal covering layer and four metallized through-holes, each of which are disposed sequentially from top to bottom, wherein the first metal covering layer comprises the feeding line and the radiating patch; the feeding line comprises the micro-strip line, which can be connected to the outer feeding port; the micro-strip line is connected to one side of the radiating patch through the high-resistance line; the radiating patch is a square-shaped metal patch; a gap is etched near the other side of the radiating patch, namely, the radiating edge; the gap is parallel to the radiating edge.
Aperture-coupled microstrip-line feed for circularly polarized patch antenna
An aperture coupled, single fed, microstrip line feed for a circularly polarized patch antenna is provided that can transmit transmissions with a low profile, wide impedance, and axial ratio bandwidths. The circularly polarized patch antenna includes a double sided printed circuit board with a non-linear slots etched into a ground plane of one side of the printed circuit board, with a printed microstrip line printed on the opposite side of the printed circuit board. The microstrip line can be hook shaped and intersect each of the slots. The non linear slots can be radially arranged around a locus or area on the circuit board. A metal patch can placed above the ground plane and electromagnetic waves emanating from the microstrip line can couple to the patch through the non-linear strips and excite the patch such that it radiates an electromagnetic transmission.

A thin film, flexible antenna that has particular application to be adhered to vehicle glass, where the antenna has a wideband antenna geometry and is operable to receive right-hand or left-hand circularly polarized signals from, for example, GPS and SDARS satellites. The antenna is a printed planar antenna formed to the substrate and includes a ground plane having a slot formed therein and a tuning sleeve having a vertical portion and a horizontal portion. The planar antenna further includes a radiating element positioned adjacent to the tuning sleeve and including a feed portion positioned within the slot, where the radiating element includes a first horizontal portion and a second horizontal portion extending from a vertical portion towards the vertical portion of the sleeve. The ground plane is operable to generate circularly polarized signals to be received by the radiating element where the sleeve provides phase tuning of the signals.
