Antenna structure
An antenna structure includes a substrate, a vertical radiator, a reflective structure and a horizontal metal branch. The vertical radiator is in the substrate. The reflective structure is laterally disposed external to the vertical radiator. The horizontal metal branch is coupled to the reflective structure.
Waveguide window/seal and portable antenna
A window/seal and a satellite ground station antenna using the window/seal. A window/seal for a circular waveguide includes a right-circular cylindrical window having an axis, an annular recess surrounding and coaxial with the cylindrical window, and an annular rib surrounding and coaxial with the annular recess. An outer diameter of the annular rib is configured to fit closely within an inside diameter of the circular waveguide.
WAVEGUIDE QUICK-CONNECT MECHANISM, WAVEGUIDE WINDOW/SEAL, AND PORTABLE ANTENNA
A mechanism to connect first and second circular waveguides. A first member includes two or more pins extending radially from a body, the first waveguide coaxial with the body and terminating at a first port at an end face of the body. A second member has a cavity coaxial with the second waveguide and configured to fit over the first member, the second waveguide terminating at a second port within the cavity. Slots disposed around a perimeter of the cavity engage the two or more pins. A cap fits over the second member, the cap including L-shaped slots to engage the two or more pins extending through the slots of the second connecting member. A wave spring between an inside surface of the cap and a shoulder of the second member urges the second port towards the first port when the cap is engaged with the two or more pins.
Systems and methods for reconfigurable faceted reflector antennas
Systems and methods are disclosed herein for a reconfigurable faceted reflector for producing a plurality of antenna patterns. The reconfigurable reflector includes a backing structure, a plurality of adjusting mechanisms mounted to the backing structure, and a plurality of reflector facets. Each of the plurality of reflector facets is coupled to a respective one of the plurality of adjusting mechanisms for adjusting the position of the reflector facet with which it is coupled. The reflector facets are arranged to produce a first antenna pattern of the plurality of antenna patterns. By adjusting the plurality of adjusting mechanisms, the position of each of the reflector facets coupled to the respective one of the plurality of adjusting mechanisms is adjusted so that the reflector facets are arranged to produce a second antenna pattern of the plurality of antenna patterns.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PROVISIONING OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS SIGNALS IN MOVING TRAINS
Systems and methods are provided for provisioning of telecommunications signals in moving trains. Scattering panels may be utilized for redirecting wireless signals, such as by scattering them, to provide better communication performance on the moving trains. The scattering panels may be configured to scatter the signals, such as by reflecting them. The scattering panels may be configured for operation in conjunction with a number of antennas that communicate the signals being scattered via the scattering panels.
MESH REFLECTOR SATELLITES WITH ON-ORBIT EXTRUDED OR PRINTED SUPPORTED STRUCTURE
Deployable reflector antenna includes a fabrication hub in which at least one additive fabrication unit disposed. The additive fabrication unit is configured to form at least one rigid structural element of a reflector antenna system. In a stowed condition, an RF reflector material comprised of a flexible webbing is disposed in a stowed configuration proximate to the fabrication hub. A fabrication control system controls the additive fabrication unit so as to form the at least one rigid structural element. The RF reflector material is arranged to transition during the additive fabrication process from the stowed configuration in which the flexible webbing material is furled compactly at the fabrication hub, to a deployed configuration in which the flexible webbing material is unfurled.
Apparatus for reflecting electromagnetic waves and method of operating such apparatus
Apparatus comprising at least one movable reflective surface configured to reflect electromagnetic waves and at least one actuator coupled with the at least one movable reflective surface, wherein said at least one actuator is configured to at least temporarily drive a movement of said at least one reflective surface.
Deployable membrane structure for an antenna
A deployable membrane structure for an antenna comprises a membrane comprising a plurality of first regions of higher-stiffness material integrally connected via one or more second regions of lower-stiffness material, wherein the one or more second regions are formed from compliant material configured to permit the membrane to be folded into a collapsed configuration and subsequently unfolded into a deployed configuration, and are arranged so as to allow adjacent ones of the plurality of first regions to be folded so as to lie against one another. In some embodiments the membrane is formed of a composite material comprising a plurality of fibres in a compliant matrix, and the plurality of first regions comprise material with a higher fibre density than the one or more second regions. A deployable antenna comprising the deployable membrane structure is also disclosed.
Antenna systems using aircraft propellers
In one embodiment, a system includes an aircraft body and a propeller coupled to the aircraft body. The propeller includes a plurality of blades forming a rearward-facing curvature with respect to an axis running longitudinally with the aircraft body. The system further includes a surface coupled to a first blade of the propeller that is operable to reflect radio frequency (RF) waves.
