Crimp contact with structured region for preventing conductor slippage during crimping

A crimp contact for crimping a conductor includes a crimp flank and a receptacle receiving the conductor and extending in a longitudinal direction of the crimp contact up to a receiving end. The crimp flank extends in the longitudinal direction over the receiving end up to a front end. The crimp flank encloses the conductor after crimping. The crimp contact has a structured region in a front region of the crimp contact arranged between the receiving end and the front end.

WIRE WITH TERMINAL

A wire with terminal WT1 is provided with a wire 2 including a core 2B and an insulation coating 2C covering around the core 2B, and a terminal 1 including a coating crimping portion 50 crimped to the insulation coating 2C. The wire 2 is pulled out rearward from the terminal 1. A water cut-off member 60 for suppressing liquid intrusion into the core 2B is disposed between an inner peripheral surface 20A of the coating crimping portion 50 and an outer peripheral surface 2A of the insulation coating 2C. The coating crimping portion 50 is provided with an oblique extending portion 70 for reducing the outflow of the water cut-off member 60 to outside due to crimping.

The present invention suppresses the return of the barrel section while ensuring waterproofness against the contact portion with the aluminum core wire. A plurality of concave sections is dispersedly provided on the inner surface of the barrel section. A groove section is provided so as to overlap the sealing member. A ridge portion is provided extending in the crossing direction at a position which does not overlap with the sealing member in plan view and is close to the third region on the side opposite to the terminal section. The barrel section is crimped to the end portion by crimping so that the exposed portion of the aluminum core wire is in contact with the ridge portion, and is sealed with the sealing member.

A female terminal 12 is a female terminal including a terminal body 15 including a deformable upper connection piece 18A and a deformable lower connection piece 18B, the upper and lower connection pieces 18A and 18B having contact surfaces 21A and 21B that come in contact with a core 13 of a wire 11, respectively, and extending in an extension direction, and a slide 16 configured to move along the extension direction. The slide 16 has an upper contact portion 25A and a lower contact portion 25B that press the upper connection piece 18A and the lower connection piece 18B, respectively, to the core 13 while the core 13 is disposed in contact with the contact surfaces 21A and 21B of the upper and lower connection pieces 18A and 18B along the extension direction.

Solderless connection to Litz wire

An electrical contact assembly having a braided Litz wire and an electrical contact. The electrical contact has a contact portion and a Litz wire termination portion. The contact portion is configured to make an electrical connection with a mating contact. The Litz wire termination portion has serrations which engage the braided Litz wire. The Litz wire termination portion has a length to allow the Litz wire termination portion to make an electrical connection with each individual wire of the Litz wire.

An electrical male terminal of this invention includes a clamp or crimp area, a main body, and a blade. A tang member having a lever member, locks with a connector assembly. Protruding members and support members of the main body act as overstress protection. The main body includes a tapered portion, a protruding guide member, and a panel shield member to guide the electrical male terminal, the panel shield member protecting the protruding guide member. The polarity of the electrical male terminal is such that the upper portion of the main body in the upper portion of the connector assembly is narrower than the lower portion of the main body in the lower portion of the connector assembly. Also, this invention includes methods for securing a wire or cable with the electrical male terminal, using a pair of wire-insulation clamping tabs or insulation crimp wing portions, and a pair of wire-clamping tabs or core crimp wing portions.

Terminal assembly and method

A method of assembling a terminal assembly includes a terminal and a terminal insert. The terminal insert may be configured to be disposed at least partially in the terminal; the terminal and the terminal insert may be configured to receive at least a portion of a wire; and/or the terminal and the terminal insert may be configured to be crimped to the said wire. The terminal insert may include a first insert wing, a second insert wing a third insert wing, and/or a fourth insert wing. The terminal may include a first wing, a second wing, a third wing, and/or a fourth wing. The first wing of the terminal may be disposed proximate the first wing of the terminal insert and/or the second wing of the terminal may be disposed proximate the second wing of the terminal insert.

An electrical female terminal for mating with a connector assembly generally including a main body, a two-bodied spring, and a wire fastening portion. The two-bodied spring includes two members to provide spring force to impinge upon and mate the terminal with a male pin or male terminal, or further blade-like object. A guide member directs and self-corrects the insertion of a male pin or male terminal, or further blade-like object into the electrical female terminal. The main body further includes a tang member with overstress protection which fastens and locks the terminal within a connector housing. The main body has support members at either end thereof. The terminal has a polarity defined by the main body and for proper mating with a corresponding housing. The electrical female terminal also may accommodate a TPA device within a space above the wire fastening portion and located behind the main body.
