A cable joint includes a cable joint body, a conductive connector disposed within the cable joint body and electrically connecting a first cable to a second cable, and a first conductive element electrically connecting a first shielding layer of the first cable to a second shielding layer of the second cable. The cable joint body includes a first insulating sleeve and a re-jacketing sleeve at least partly encompassing the first insulating sleeve. The re-jacketing sleeve forms a channel along a longitudinal axis of the first insulating sleeve. The first conductive element is disposed within the channel. The channel is collapsed after heat shrinking the first insulating sleeve and the re-jacketing sleeve.

A method of assembling a connector for automotive applications, comprising the steps of: providing a cable having at least one inner conductor; connecting an elongated inner signal contact of the connector to a stripped end of the at least one inner conductor; surrounding the elongated inner signal contact by an insulating element; placing a first shielding part of the connector around a first portion of the insulating element from a first radial direction; placing a second shielding part of the connector around a second portion of the insulating element from a second radial direction generally opposite to the first radial direction; and joining the first and second shielding parts to form a shielding contact of the connector surrounding the insulating element.

Ferrule for a coaxial cable terminal having overlapping crimp wings

A coaxial cable assembly includes a coaxial cable having a shield conductor surrounding a central conductor, a shield terminal in contact with an inner surface of the shield conductor, and a ferrule configured to secure the shield terminal to the coaxial cable. The ferrule defines first and second crimping wings. The first and second crimping wings each having an arcuate shape and are compressively connected to an outer surface of the shield conductor. A distal end of the first crimping wing overlies a distal end of the second crimping wing. A method for forming the coaxial cable assembly and a crimping tool for attaching the ferrule to the coaxial cable is also provided.

A female connector module to be connected to a male terminal module is provided with a tubular female shield member, a tubular housing arranged on an outer periphery of the female shield member, a front mask provided on a tip portion of the housing, and an electrically conductive rubber for conduction between a male shield member of the male terminal module and the female shield member. The front mask has an end wall for facing an end surface of the housing and a side wall for covering an outer peripheral surface of the tip portion. The end wall has a through hole into which the male terminal module being inserted. The electrically conductive rubber is so arranged inside the through hole as to contact an end surface of the female shield member while being held in contact with an outer peripheral surface of the male shield member.

This shielded terminal is provided with: an external conductor (20) that has a connection space (28) which is between a pair of side walls (26), and which is open to the outside via a first opening (31) and a second opening (32); a shielded electric cable (70) that is connected to the external conductor (20); an internal conductor (11) that is housed in the external conductor (20) and that is connected to a core wire (71) of the shielded electric cable (70) in the connection space (28); and a cover (50) that is installed inside the connection space (28) from the first opening (31) and that surrounds the part at which the core wire (71) and the internal conductor (11) are connected, wherein an interference part (34) that interferes with the cover (50) is formed on the opening edge part of the second opening (32).

The connection member 23 includes a tubular part 25 and an extension part 26 that extends in a direction crossing the tubular part 25. The attachment member 24, 24A includes a crimp part 59, 59A that covers an outer surface of the extension part 26 and is crimped to the shielded electrical wire 90, 90A with the extension part 26 interposed therebetween. The extension part 26 and the tubular part 25 form an L shape in a side view, and are continuous with each other via an inner corner part 36 formed between outer surfaces of the extension part 26 and the tubular part 25.

A shield terminal includes a first outer conductor and a second outer conductor. The first outer conductor includes a barrel portion that is electrically connected to a shield portion of an electric wire, and an engaging portion capable of engaging with a housing, and the second outer conductor includes a main body portion and an extension portion extending rearward from the main body portion. A rear end portion of the extension portion is sandwiched between the barrel portion and the electric wire. A fastener portion is formed on a front side of the second outer conductor relative to the rear end of the extension portion, and a fastening portion capable of coming into contact with the fastener portion in a direction of rotation about the engaging portion is formed forward of the engaging portion of the first outer conductor.
