TORQUE LIMITING CLAMP FOR HELICAL OUTER CONDUCTOR CABLES

Disclosed is a RF connector that has a main body, a clamp, and a cap. The connector has an internal torque limiting mechanism that enables the connector to be installed in the field such that the connector is correctly positioned at the axial stop point of the RF cable during insertion. This is enabled by an internal preloaded cap/seal interface that requires a predetermined breakaway torque to cause the cap to rotate relative to the clamp. The breakaway torque is less than a torque that would be required to over-install the connector.

A cable connector engages with an external thread surface of an electronic device, including a torque sleeve and a post. The torque sleeve includes a first end and an internal thread formed on the first end. The post is coaxially arranged in the torque sleeve, and the post includes a head portion and a body portion, where the head portion directly contacts the external thread surface of the device. When the torque sleeve gradually moves from a first position to a second position relative to the external thread surface of the device, one end of the external thread of the device abuts the head portion of the post, allowing the post to move axially. Having the head portion of the post in contact with the external thread surface, the cable connector is able to generate electrical conduction even if not completely fastened, which provides a continuous electrical conduction effect.

CONNECTOR HAVING A GROUNDING MEMBER

A connector includes a body having a central bore and a first grounding contact surface, a post disposed within the central bore and having an outwardly projecting flange configured to produce a first portion of a mating interface, and a conductive coupler. The post portion has a tubular sleeve configured to mechanically and electrically engage a prepared end of a coaxial cable. The conductive coupler has an engagement surface at a first end configured to mechanically and electrically engage an interface port, a lip at a second end configured to produce a second portion of the mating interface, and a second grounding contact surface opposing the first grounding contact surface. The first and second portions are configured to slide along the mating interface to rotate about an elongate axis of the connector. The connector includes a conductive ring disposed between the first and second grounding contact surfaces and configured to produce an electrical path between the body and the conductive coupler.

Coaxial connector device

A signal contact member and a ground contact member to which a center conductor and an outer conductor of a coaxial cable are connected are supported by an insulating housing member. The ground contact member has an annular fitting portion that fits and connects to the ground contact portion of a mate connector device. The annular fitting portion is provided with an opening for disposing a center conductor connection portion of the signal contact member. A shell portion of a ground contact member or an insulating housing member is provided with a conductive member given a ground potential.
