BATTERY CLAMP
A clamp for providing an electrical connection to a battery includes a first arm, a second arm, a joint member, a first pivotable connection, and a second pivotable connection. The first arm includes a proximal end, a distal end, and an electrically conductive member at the distal end. The second arm includes a proximal end and a distal end. The first pivotable connection is between the joint member and the first arm, and defines a first axis, about which the first arm rotates relative to the joint member. The second pivotable connection is between the joint member and the second arm, and defines a second axis, about which the second arm rotates relative to the joint member. The first and second axes are displaced from each other in a direction that is perpendicular to the first axis.
CONNECTOR
A connector includes a plurality of contacts each including first and second contact pieces provided with first and second contact portions at distal end sides, respectively, that come into contact with conductor portions of two insertable/removable connection objects when the connection objects are inserted, and a connection portion to be connected and secured to a board. The connector further includes a housing that holds the contacts in an array and includes an insertion opening of a shape that allows insertion of the connection objects and a battery from a same direction, and a terminal is arranged in the housing and spaced apart from the contacts in a width direction of the housing, the terminal including third and fourth contact pieces provided with third and fourth contact portions on distal end sides, respectively, configured to come into contact with the conductor portion of one of the connection objects and the battery.
POWER CABLE AND BUS BAR WITH TRANSITIONAL CROSS SECTIONS
An electrical cable is provided with a rounded insulated electrical conductor that transitions to a flattened section to fit into areas where the rounded portion does not fit. A round electrical conductor transitions to a flattened section for electrical conduction routing via the undercarriage of a vehicle, for routing under the carpeting of the passenger compartment, or other confined spaces. The electrical cable may illustratively be used in an electric car application where distribution of electrical current from the battery compartment to the motor requires additional wiring in the vehicle not found in combustion based engines. The reduced vertical profile of the flattened section provides for additional clearance between the vehicle undercarriage and the road, or between the undercarriage frame and the interior passenger compartment carpet.
Battery assembly for a hand holdable light
A hand holdable light comprises: a light body having a forward portion, a rearward portion, and a central portion between the forward portion and to the rearward portion; a light source proximate a forward end; and a switch for energizing the light source. The rearward portion has a non-circular cross-section; the switch is on the forward portion; and the central portion has a recess opposite the switch. The light is holdable by a hand with a finger or thumb proximate the recess and the other of a finger or thumb proximate the switch. A battery assembly comprises: a battery housing for receiving and connecting a battery; an electrical switch on a first end of the battery housing; and a pattern of electrical contacts on a second end of the battery housing, wherein ones of the electrical contacts are connected to the battery.
BATTERY MODULE INCLUDING BUSBAR HAVING SCREW THREAD
A battery module includes a busbar. The busbar that electrically connects electrode leads protruding from an electrode assembly to the busbar. The battery module also includes a busbar frame accommodating the busbar. The busbar is fixed to the busbar frame. The battery module also includes a connection busbar connected to the busbar and a connection bolt connecting the busbar and the connection busbar together. The busbar includes a first screw thread, and the connection bolt is fixed to the first screw thread.
MANUAL SERVICE DISCONNECT FOR A BATTERY SYSTEM
An interconnect is disclosed that opens a battery circuit when an access cover is removed. The interconnect includes a single installed position, and does not include any throw positions to avoid ambiguity. The interconnect includes a conductive element that closes the battery circuit when the interconnect is installed. The access cover cannot be removed when the interconnect is installed, because the interconnect includes at least one mechanical feature that prevents removal of the access cover. In some instances, the interconnect is integrated into the access cover, such that when the cover is removed, the circuit is opened necessarily during removal. The interconnect interface may include blades, pins, or other electrically conducting elements. The interconnect is arranged in the battery system away from power electronics and other components that may interface to an electrical load, thus providing an added measure of safety when the access cover is off.
MICROBATTERY WITH CENTER PIN
A microbattery uses automated machinery to achieve small sizes. The case includes a first terminal that has a hole. A second terminal is located in the hole of the case and is electrically separated from the first terminal. The battery includes two electrodes (anode and cathode). A first electrode is electrically connected to the first terminal. A pin extends through the hole in the first electrode. The pin is electrically connected on one end to the second terminal and on an opposite end to a second electrode.
Manual service disconnect for a battery system
An interconnect is disclosed that opens a battery circuit when an access cover is removed. The interconnect includes a single installed position, and does not include any throw positions to avoid ambiguity. The interconnect includes a conductive element that closes the battery circuit when the interconnect is installed. The access cover cannot be removed when the interconnect is installed, because the interconnect includes at least one mechanical feature that prevents removal of the access cover. In some instances, the interconnect is integrated into the access cover, such that when the cover is removed, the circuit is opened necessarily during removal. The interconnect interface may include blades, pins, or other electrically conducting elements. The interconnect is arranged in the battery system away from power electronics and other components that may interface to an electrical load, thus providing an added measure of safety when the access cover is off.
Magnetic coupling systems
This patent pertains to magnetic coupling systems. One implementation includes magnetic jumper cables, which include magnetic couplers and elongate, insulated, electrically-isolated electric conductors.
System for Enhancing Power Tools
An adapter for electrically connecting a power tool battery pack with a power tool and/or a power tool battery pack charger. The adapter has a controller, and a wireless communication circuit connected to the controller for wireless communication with a computing device, the wireless communication circuit receiving data from the computing device. The controller can perform an action according to the data received from the computing device.
