CABLE CONNECTOR SYSTEM

A cable connector includes a cable including a center conductor and a housing supporting a portion of the center conductor. An imaginary line divides a cross-section of the center conductor into two semicircles, and when the cable connector is mated with a mating connector, only one of the two semicircles is directly connected with a corresponding contact of the mating connector.

A second flexible substrate extends in parallel spaced relation to the first flexible substrate to form a cavity between the first flexible substrate and second flexible substrate. The second flexible substrate having a plurality of signal contacts. The second flexible substrate extends from a terminating end to a mating end and configured to be flexible between the terminating end and mating end. The plug connector includes a rigid section disposed in the cavity at the mating end, the first flexible substrate moves in relation to the rigid section.

TRANS-VACUUM PRINTED FLEXIBLE WIRING APPARATUS

A novel and useful system wiring apparatus and related techniques that address the

need to feed power and electronic signals to and from a sample board between the cold, low pressure region in a vacuum chamber and outside room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The wiring apparatus balances electrical resistance with the thermal conductivity of the power and signal conductors. Printed flexible cables are used having an annular sealing region which together with O-rings provide vacuum sealing while allowing electrical signals to pass between integrated circuit(s) inside the vacuum chamber and equipment outside the chamber. A thermal anchor is placed along the printed flexible cable to maintain a desired temperature along the cable. The printed flexible circuits are multilayer with two outer layers serving as an RF shield while two inner layers comprise the signal lines which typically require shielding, electrical isolation from each other and from external electromagnetic fields.

The conductor has a diameter not greater than 24 AWG. The uninsulated front end of the conductor is terminated at the rear pad and includes a preformed bend. The connector assembly also includes a recess formed in an external surface and on a lateral side of the housing. The recess is designed to receive and house a spring member of a pull tab that is assembled to the housing. The vertical separation between the recess and the circuit board is h, the average thickness of the cable is t, and h≥3t. The preformed bend may include first and second portions connected by a substantially flattened joint.

CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY

A connector assembly comprises a connector and a mating connector. The connector is attachable with a connecting object having a sheet-like shape. The connecting object has a wiring layer, a conductive layer and an insulator. The wiring layer includes at least one trace. The trace has a first contact portion. The conductive layer has at least two second contact portions. The connector is mateable with the mating connector along a first direction. The mating connector comprises at least one mating first terminal and at least two mating second terminals. Under a mated state where the connector in the attached state is mated with the mating connector, the first contact portion is positioned between two of the mating second terminals in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The second contact portions are brought into contact with the mating second terminals, respectively, under the mated state.

CONNECTING OBJECT, CONNECTOR AND HARNESS

A connecting object is used for connection to a device. The connecting object has a sheet-like shape. The device has at least two ground pins and at least one signal pin. The at least one signal pin is arranged between two of the ground pins in a pitch direction. The connecting object has a wiring layer, a shield layer and an insulator. The wiring layer is formed with only a signal line which is configured to be connected with the signal pin. The wiring layer is formed with no ground line which is configured to be connected with the ground pin. The shield layer covers the wiring layer via the insulator which is positioned between the shield layer and the wiring layer.
