Wafer connector with grounding clamp

A wafer connector is disclosed in which a plurality of twin-axial wires are terminated to the tails of ground and signal terminals of the connector. Each twin-axial wire includes a pair of signal wires enclosed in a conductive sheath. A conductive grounding clamp is provided that contacts the sheaths of the twin-axial wires and holds them together as a unit to facilitate the attachment of the wires to the connector terminal tails. The clamp has two opposing halves that cooperatively define openings which receive the twin-axial wires and flat, interconnecting portions extending between the openings that provide contact points where the grounding clamp may be attached to the connector terminal tails.

Grounding plate having an arcuate wall with a soldering notch

A cable connector assembly includes: a shielding shell; an inner circuit board received in the shielding shell and defining a number of grounding pads; a cable electrically connecting to the inner circuit board, the cable including an outer boot, plural pairs of differential signal wires, and a number of grounding wires each corresponding to a respective pair of differential signal wires; and a grounding plate electrically connecting with the grounding pads; wherein the grounding plate includes a number of arcuate walls each having a respective receiving room accommodating a corresponding pair of differential signal wires, a notch is defined on a top of each of the arcuate walls, and the grounding wire is soldered in the notch.

DIRECT-ATTACH CONNECTOR

A contact ribbon configured to connect a cable to a substrate includes a plurality of signal contacts, a ground plane, and at least one ground contact extending from the ground plane. The plurality of signal contacts are connected by a support member, and the support member is removable after the plurality of signal contacts are connected to the cable.

Techniques and mechanisms for providing a reference potential with a flexible circuit device. In an embodiment, the flexible circuit device includes a first interconnect to exchange a signal and a second interconnect to exchange a reference potential that facilitates shielding of the signal. The first and second interconnects are variously coupled to a printed circuit board (PCB) via a first contact and a second contact of a hardware interface. During such coupling, a maximum height of the second interconnect from a side of the PCB at the hardware interface is greater than a maximum height of the first interconnect from the side of the PCB at the hardware interface. In another embodiment, a distance of the first contact from an end of the flexible circuit device is different than a distance of the second contact from the end of the flexible circuit device.
