Connector for connection to a sheet-like electrically conductive member provided with a plurality of electrically conductive portions that are arranged at different height positions in the thickness direction of the electrically conductive member

The present invention provides a connector that can be easily and properly connected to a sheet-like electrically conductive member that is provided with a plurality of electrically conductive portions arranged at different height positions in the thickness direction. A connector 1 includes a plurality of contacts 2, a body housing 5 that holds the contacts 2, and a cover housing 7 that is attached to the body housing 5. The body housing 5 has a plurality of holding portions 51 that hold the contacts 2. The holding portions 51 are provided in the body housing 5 so as to hold the contacts 2 at different height positions in the thickness direction of the body housing 5. A plurality of electrically conductive portions 101 come into contact with the contacts 2 in a state where an electrically conductive member 100 is sandwiched between the cover housing 7 and the body housing 5.

TERMINAL-FREE CONNECTORS AND CIRCUITS COMPRISING TERMINAL-FREE CONNECTORS

Provided are terminal-free connectors for flexible interconnect circuits. A connector comprises a housing chamber defined by at least a first side wall and a second side wall oppositely positioned about the base. An edge support is positioned at each of the first side wall and the second side wall. The edge supports allow for precise placement of the flexible interconnect circuit inside the housing chamber. A cover piece is coupled to the base via a first hinge, and is configured to move between a released position and a clamped position. The cover piece includes a clamp portion securing the flexible interconnect circuit against the edge supports in the clamped position. A slider may be configured to move between an extended position and an inserted position within the housing chamber, and may include a convex upper surface configured to urge the flexible interconnect circuit upwards in the inserted position.

Electrical Terminal For Flat Flexible Cables

A terminal for mating with an exposed conductor of a flat flexible cable comprises an electrical contact and a crimping portion extending from the electrical contact. The crimping portion includes a base defining at least one protrusion extending therefrom, and first and second sidewalls extending from the base. The first sidewall includes a first section attached to the base and a second section attached to the first section on an end opposite the base. In a crimped state of the terminal, the first section of the first sidewall is folded into an opening of the terminal for crimping the conductor within the opening and against the protrusion, and the second section of the first sidewall is folded so as to overlap or oppose a side of the first section opposite the conductor.

Electrical Terminal For Flat Flexible Cables

A cable assembly includes a flat flexible cable having a plurality of conductors embedded within an insulation material. A portion of each of the conductors is exposed via openings selectively formed in the insulation material, allowing for a crimping portion of an electrically conductive terminal to engage with the conductor within the opening. The crimping portion of the terminal includes a base defining at least one aperture formed therethrough, and first and second sidewalls extending from the base. The base and sidewalls define a conductor opening configured to receive the conductor therein. At least one of the first of second sidewalls includes a sidewall protrusion extending therefrom, wherein the sidewalls are foldable into the conductor opening for crimping the conductor therewithin. In a crimped state of the crimping portion, the conductor is pressed into the aperture by the sidewall protrusion
