A tool-less fastening device for an edge card is provided. The edge card is accommodated in a fastening frame, and the fastening frame is then inserted into an electric connector. In an assembly process, the edge card is fastened with the fastening frame without using any tool, and a user only needs to engage the edge card into the fastening frame; next, the fastening frame is inserted into the electric connector without using any tool, and the user only needs to engage the fastening spring clips disposed on two opposite sides of the fastening frame with two anus of the electric connector, so as to complete a fastening operation. The fastening frame and the electric connector can be prevented from being separated from each other when being shaken during manufacturing or shipment process. Therefore, the edge card can be fastened with the electric connector without using any tool.

An electrical connector has an insulative elongated housing retaining a plurality of contacts therein. The housing includes an upper wall, a lower wall and a rear wall to commonly form a receiving slot. The upper wall forms a plurality of upper passageways and the lower wall forms a plurality of lower passageways to receiving the corresponding upper contacts and lower contacts therein. Each contact includes a mating section extending into the mating space and a mounting leg extending outside of the housing. The housing forms a plurality of cavities in the upper wall, the lower wall and the rear wall to relative evenly adjust the thickness of the different positions in the cross-section of the housing so as to evenly molding the housing without improper deformation/warpage when the housing is solidified after molding.

Dual connector system

A dual connector system includes a host circuit board with first and second electrical connectors. The first electrical connector has a housing with a card slot, first contacts and a latching feature. The second electrical connector has a housing with second contacts. The dual connector system includes a dual connector module having a module circuit board having contact pads. The dual connector module has a latch movable between a latched position and an unlatched position. The latch engages the latching feature of the first electrical connector in the latched position to hold the dual connector module in a mated position. A release mechanism is operably coupled between the dual connector module and at least one of the first electrical connector and the second electrical connector. The release mechanism forces the dual connector module to an unmated position after the latch is moved from the latched position to the unlatched position.
