An electrical connector includes a connector housing configured to receive a corresponding mating connector, a cable guide cover attached to the connector housing, and a mate assist system for assisting in mating to the corresponding mating connector. The mate assist system includes a lever moveable to assembly, open, and closed positions. The lever includes gear means connected with a slider in the connector housing. The lever moves the slider to a first, second, and third position. The lever is releasable and attachable to the connector housing only in the assembly position. The cable guide cover is attachable to the connector housing only when the lever is in the closed position. The slider has a releasing means cooperating with a releasing means of the corresponding mating connector to unblock the slider while mating and enabling movement of the lever to the closed position, thereby moving the slider to the third position.

Lever-type connector

A lever (22) is formed with first driving portions (27) to move sliders (35) from a connection end position to an unlocking position in the process of rotating the lever (22) from a connection position to a switch position. Second driving portions (28) push the sliders (35) parallel to one another from the unlocking position to a connection start position in the process of rotating the lever (22) from the switch position to an initial position and move away from the sliders (35) as the lever (22) rotates from the initial position to the switch position with the sliders (35) located at the connection start position. Locking portions (33) restrict rotation of the lever (22) toward the connection position by being locked to the sliders (35) with the sliders (35) located at the connection start position and the lever (22) located at the switch position.

Connector and connector assembly having elastically deformed springs

A connector assembly that includes a first connector and a second connector. The first connector has a spring member press-fitted into a housing thereof. The second connector has a groove in a housing thereof. At the time of mating, the spring member is inserted in the groove in a mating direction to be deformed elastically in a direction intersecting the mating direction. Then, with the spring member of the first connector elastically deformed in the groove of the second connector, looseness between the housing of the first connector and the housing of the second connector is prevented.

Electrical connection system for use in high power applications
10218119 · 2019-02-26 · ·

An electrical connection system is described. The electrical connection system comprises a first electrical connection component that is suitable for transmission of power with a voltage level greater than 1 kV. The electrical connection system also comprises a second electrical connection component that is suitable for transmission of power with a voltage level greater than 1 kV and arranged for coupling to the first electrical connection component. The electrical connection system comprises a mechanical coupling assembly for imparting a driving force to drive the first and second electrical connection components relative to each other along a central axis of the electrical connection system and between disengaged and engaged conditions. The mechanical coupling assembly is structured to impart a portion of the driving force at a first eccentric position and comprising a transmission that is arranged to transmit a further portion of the driving force to a second eccentric position. The second eccentric position has an angular orientation around the central axis that is different to that of the first eccentric position.

ELECTRICAL PLUG CONNECTION

A plug includes: a housing with a plurality of electrical plug contacts that electrically contact complementary plug contacts of a plugging module in a completely plugged-on position; and a slider movably attached to the housing, including first and second gear rack segments, and configured to engage with the plugging module such that, in response to a movement of the slider relative to the housing, a force is transmitted by the slider to the plugging module by which the plug and plugging module move towards each other or away from each other. A lever is rotationally mounted to the housing so that, responsive to a movement of the lever in one direction, the gear meshes with the first gear rack segment moving the slider in a first movement direction, and subsequently meshes with the second gear rack segment moving the slider in a second opposite movement direction.

Electronics module extraction feedback system

An assembly for attaching and detaching an electronics module from a base includes a feedback assembly that provides an operator with tactile feedback on the relative positioning of the module with the base during attachment or detachment of the module to or from the base. The feedback assembly includes cams on the electronics module and a follower attached to an end of a spring arm on the base. The spring arm forms a portion of a wall that guides movement of the module along the base during attachment or detachment of the module.

Connector assembly with variable axial assist

A connector includes a first-housing, a second-housing, a shroud, and a stacked-gear. The stacked-gear is moveably mounted to the first-housing. The stacked-gear engages a first-gear-rack on the second-housing and a second-gear-rack on the shroud. The second-housing is mated with the first-housing when the shroud is moved along a mating-axis of the connector. The stacked-gear engages at least two teeth on the first-gear-rack and on the second-gear-rack when the second-housing is mated with the first-housing. A rotation of the stacked-gear is greater than ninety degrees when the shroud is moved from an unmated-position to a mated-position. The stacked-gear initially engages a first-side of a first-tooth of the first-gear-rack when the first-housing receives the second-housing. A uniform mating-force is maintained as the shroud is moved from an unmated-position to a mated-position. A mechanical advantage to produce the mating-force is increased as the shroud is moved from an unmated-position to a mated-position.

CONNECTOR

A connector comprising a housing and a lever. The connector is mateable with and removable from a mating connector along a first direction by operation of the lever. The housing has an inner portion, an outer portion, at least one coupling portion, a pivot, a first portion and a second portion. The housing has a lever accommodating portion between the outer portion and the inner portion in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The lever accommodating portion partially accommodates the lever. The pivot is positioned inside the lever accommodating portion. The pivot supports the lever so that the lever is rotatable. The at least one coupling portion has a bridge portion which is elastically deformable. The bridge portion is sandwiched between the first portion and the second portion in a plane perpendicular to the second direction.
