Electrical connector and method for mounting electrical connector

The plug shell of the electrical connector includes the accommodation portion for accommodating the contact pin and the housing that holds the contact pin, the insertion port for inserting the contact pin and the housing into the accommodation portion, the lid member for closing the insertion port, and the hold mechanism for holding the lid member. The hold mechanism includes the pedestal, on which the lid member is placed, and the pair of hold pieces, which hold the lid member on the pedestal by pressing. The pair of hold pieces press the end portions of the lid member toward the pedestal, so that thereby a stress that urges the end portions to become distant from the pedestal is generated in the lid member.

Each cable connector assembly has a housing holding contacts terminated to corresponding cables. Each cable connector assembly has a holder mounted to the corresponding mounting location of the plate. The holder is mounted to the plate and removable from the plate through the rear opening at the rear of the plate.

A self-locking connector provides an electrical connection between sources, equipment, devices, and the like. The self-locking connector generally includes first and second connector components with first and second housings that include corresponding electrically conductive elements, first and second magnetic elements, and first and second lock elements. One housing includes stationary and movable housing components. The connector components are brought into a coupled state with the corresponding electrically conductive elements providing an electrical connection. As the connector components are brought into the coupled state, the movable housing component automatically moves and brings the locking elements into locked engagement. The magnetic elements urge the connector components in the coupled state and the locking elements in locked engagement. The movable housing component is manually moved to bring the lock components out of locked engagement and the connector components out of the coupled state to break the electrical connection.

A connector assembly includes a connector, and a connector position assurance (CPA) device movably arranged with the connector between a first position and a second position. The CPA device assures mating in a mating direction between the connector and a second connector in the second position. The latching arm defines at least one chamfered surface portion facing at least partially in a force direction perpendicular to the mating direction and abutting against a stopping surface of the connector in the first position.
