In one form, a wall plate is provided having retention portion configured to retain a first end of an electrical cord, such that with the wall plate secured to a wall or other substrate, the first end of the electrical cord is retained between the wall and the wall plate.

The wireless communication device is configured to receive a wireless signal transmitted from the wireless communication device included the personal protective equipment, the wireless signal providing information concerning whether the user is wearing the item of personal protective equipment properly. The electrical isolation device operates to allow current flow in the at least one conductor when the information provided by the wireless signal indicates that the item of personal protective equipment is being worn properly by the user.

A compressible and elastic diaphragm is used to form a seal around the cables of the extension cords where they enter the apparatus. The apparatus includes a housing that has at least one aperture. The diaphragm extends across the aperture. The diaphragm projects inwardly with respect to an interior surface of the housing. The compressibility and elasticity of the diaphragm material is greater than that of the housing material.
