Very high speed, high density electrical interconnection system with impedance control in mating region

A modular electrical connector with separately shielded signal conductor pairs. In some embodiments, the connector is may be assembled from modules, each containing a pair of signal conductors with surrounding partially or fully conductive material. In some embodiments, the modules may have projecting portions, of conductive and/or dielectric material, that are shaped and positioned to reduce changes in impedance along the signal paths as a function of separation of conductive elements, when the connectors are separated by less than the functional mating range.

A plug connector (1) for connection of a data line, having a plug housing (2) with one or more connection elements (3) each connection element being for connection of a respective wire of the data line. The connection elements have one or more contact elements (4), and one or more conductor elements (5), via each of which a connection element (3) is electrically conductively connected to a contact element (4). Return damping of the plug connector (1) is reduced in that at least one portion (6) of the individual conductor elements (5) or at least one portion of the individual contact elements (4) is designed and arranged such that the wave impedance of the portion (6) is purposefully mismatched so that the value of the wave impedance deviates from the nominal wave impedance of the data line.

CONNECTOR

A connector is provided that includes a terminal for which, taking a plate width direction of a first retained portion as a first plate width direction, a plate thickness direction of a second retained portion faces in a direction intersecting with a flat plane perpendicular to the first plate width direction, and that is easy to manufacture and is applicable to high speed transmission.

A contact device for receiving a plug end includes a first contact, which has a first coupling end and a first contact end, and a second contact, which has a second coupling end and a second contact end. The coupling ends are configured to electrically couple the respective contact to a receiving device, and the contact ends are configured to electrically connect the respective contact to a contact element of the plug end. The shortest distance between the first coupling end and the first contact end is not equal to the shortest distance between the second coupling end and the second contact end. The total length of the first contact is equal to, or is within a predetermined tolerance from, the total length of the second contact.

Socket connector

The present disclosure a socket connector including an insulating body, one or more conductive terminals and an adjusting element. The insulating body includes a mating surface, a mounting surface, an insertion slot and an installation slot. The conductive terminals include one or more signal terminals and one or more ground terminals. Each conductive terminal includes a fixing portion, an elastic arm and a mounting portion.
